Rare Monsters/ Golden Monsters

Default Rare Monsters/ Golden Monsters

It would break up the monotony if in every section of the map, golden or "rare" versions of monsters appeared. These versions would either have significantly increase stats or just of a much higher level. They would make traveling from town to town more dangerous/exciting. They don't need to drop a ton of gold or loot, but maybe you could get an accomplishment or a timecard or something.

so an uber boss thats only a random encounter and drops a time cards. give this guy a metal. best idea ever.

Doesn't have to be time cards. Plus it would be near impossible to beat for the people leveling in the area. Like a lvl 10 runt fox. Or a lvl 18 lost polar cub.

ya, i'd go back to a grey area and sit there for hours trying to get a random for a time card or an epic. aslong as the item is good and worth it everyone would do it.

I played a game that used an idea similar to this one and the rare monsters had like a 1 in 10,000 chance to spawn or 0.0001% chance. Nobody is going to camp greys with odds like that. But if you just so happened to cross paths with it, it would be an interesting fight.

indeed it would. and luck would have it so a PKer after his first kill would run into it lol.

I like your idea, maybe it could drop runes(at or above your level). still wondering how runes are going to be introduced this would be a good way.

i like this idea but they shouldnt be too far ahead of thecreatures though would be a lot more fun

I agree, something like this could be implemented.

The creatures should be at a little higher levels, though. They'd be greys to all the way stronger players. Greys give no loot as well, right? Or only a way lower chance?

Rare creatures could have a slightly better chance of dropping an epic item. Runes might be good as well. Depending from how big a chance of running into such creatures would be, the item drops should be adequately high. With the chance of 0.0001%, it could actually give a certain item drop. I'd say the chance of finding rare monsters should be higher, though. 1 out of 10,000,000 would be way too little even with getting certain drops (unless you'd be getting drops like epic items and runes only).

It could also be one of the events someone's suggested, something like "<name of the creature> has appeared in <name of the area>." There could be only a few such spawns per day.

The idea could be greatly developed.

I think it would be better to have monsters with small bonuses to stats, at about 1/10th, with small bonuses to loot.

Example, using adjectives to describe a specific monster that deals extra damage or has extra hp but drops increased gold or increased possibility of an item?


ex. A monster with 20% more hp but has 10% more chance to drop an item. and this happens 1/10th of at time so it really adds flavor to the currently monotone assortment of monsters in each zone.

It might be enough. The amount of monsters right now is like an average of how many other such games have. And in most games half of the creatures are pretty much the same as the other half, but with, let's say, different names or of different colours.

If there are rare monsters they should be the same monsters that appear in the area just the boost to the stats and the reward.

you just don't want anyone to be able to use their epics because it would give them an advantage, and if these creatures are going to be very rare then what is the harm in a virt drop? They might not even get the one they need

Agreed, it wouldn't be of much harm to the game providers as well. I'm only wondering if such drops are even possible. Virtues aren't items, I think... right?

I do want people to use their epics. Hell, I've got plenty of them myself. I just believe that virtues dropping is very overpowered. Also, it would take a lot of programming to make that even possible.

As for the creatures being very rare, perhaps 1 in 10,000, that still does not matter. I can go to Traveler's Way and kill the mobs there in less than 5 seconds; in a full day's RT that is at least 2,200. About five days for a rare monster. Those with Grinder would need even less.

And since the monsters are so rare, the only ones who would stand any decent chance of finding them are those with time to spare to grind for them. Those people are also those who don't really need the benefit of a free virtue as they are already leveling faster than others.
