Recognition
Hey folks, why not make the incentive for investing in Virtues more appealing?
Here's a suggestion for the social skill "Recognition".
Recognition -
Every 10 points in this skill gives a 0.01% chance for one of your Virtues to flash and cause any melee, ranged, or direct damage attack against you to miss.
---------------
Some explanation:
"Recognition" would be similar to pets growling. At a max skill of 100 and the full compliment of 30 Virtues, a character gains a 3% chance for an opponent's attack to miss.
This would essentially be a combat skill, but with the release of the skill "Gravebound" and it being based off of melee hits, I think there is precedence set for skills not being pigeon-holed into their categories.
Also, I thought the skill name "Recognition" ought to have relevance to the accomplishments that a player has achieved. Although Virtues aren't actual accomplishments per se, unless paying money is considered an accomplishment, this game does categorize Virtues under the Accomplishments Window and I believe it fitting that there be a relationship.
Because "Recognition" is currently a social skill, I don't think that its effect should have too major an impact on a player's character if in fact it does remain a social skill. For low level players, the benefit is small. For high level players, the benefit is not ridiculous.
Rather than having appear the floating words "Fortitude" or "Temperance", flashing the virtue on the battlefield could simply be the actual Virtue symbol appearing and then fading out. How's THAT for eye candy!
Your thoughts?
