Hello!
Well, I decided to create a Frequently Asked Questions Thread for Nodiatis. If anyone has any other questions, I can answer them (or, failing that, perhaps someone else can).
Ok, let's begin:
1. What is a solo group?
A solo group (also called Acumen Group on occasion) is when you group up with other players only to gain the benefits of the Group Acumen Learning Skill. In other words, you battle solo, but are grouped, so still get the benefits of Group Acumen.
2. How do I gain Adventuring Experience?
Travel from one town to another. The first time you'll gain Adventuring Experience is when you have to cross Traveler's Way to reach Stronhad (town 2).
3. What do people mean when they say T followed by a number?
They're most likely referring to a town.
T1 = Castille
T2 = Stronhad
T3 = Fenelia
And so on...
4. What is with these Elites scattered around the game? I can't solo them!
Well, each area has two normal creatures and one Elite creature (or Boss). For the first two areas:
Docks - Fiddler Crab, Ship Rat
BOSS - Drunken Fisherman
Traveler's Way - Runt Fox, Sand Snake
BOSS - Ogre Outcast
Elites, as you have probably noticed, are tough critters to take down solo. It can be done and, depending on your build, you may even find it easy. However, most of the time, it's better to group up with other people (preferably that haven't done the quest themselves) to take the boss down.
5. What's this about soulbinding?
When you equip an item (as of server patch v1.042, this also affects gems) on your character, the game will warn you about the soulbinding and ask you if you really want to equip it.
When an item is bound to your soul, you cannot trade it to other players. To remedy this consequence, sell and repurchase the item.
6. How do I level up?
Kill monsters!
LOL. Sorry.
Seriously, to level up your character's Stats (which increases your player level), you need to kill monsters.
Each monster killed (excluding monsters over 3 levels below your own; also called grays, due to gray being the color their name is written in at that point) gives experience to one of your Stat skills. They also usually drop trophies that you can sacrifice to Altars located besides or inside the Church of each town.

8. How do I fish?

9. Where do I get a fishing pole?
The Drunken Fisherman drops a fishing pole when you kill him for the first time.
10. What do I do with a fish?

11. How do I trap?

12. Is it possible to trap pets?

13. Where do babies come from?
Hmm...well, am I allowed to take the copout route and say that storks bring them? :P
Seriously, if you don't know the answer to this question, you shouldn't be asking it.
14. What do I do with a mongoose?

15. How do I group with someone else?
You can group with another player by right-clicking on his avatar to bring up the more options menu. From there, you should find an option called Invite to Group. By clicking on it, you send an invite to that player, that he/she can then accept or decline. Alternately, you may find that he/she is already in a group. In that case, you can ask them (via shout or a tell) to invite you instead.
Note: A group can only have a total of 3 players in it.
16. How do I group with myself?
Well, if you have at least two accounts, do what I just explained above. Have one of your accounts invite the other. If you only have one account, then you're out of luck. I assume you'll need to find a way to be in two places at once. :P
17. Where do I get a pet and how do I equip it?
Like most other items, pets can drop as loot from a first time defeated Boss. Otherwise, you have to go to a town's pet store and acquire one there. To equip a pet, you need to have enough levels in the Petmanship skill. Afterward, go into your inventory, take your future companion, and stuff it in one of your pet slots (located near the top of the inventory screen).
18. Where do I get gems, how do I equip them, and how do I use them?
You can get gems from the various shops in each town. To equip them, you'll need enough levels in the appropriate Magic skill it requires.
For example, you need 2 White Magic to equip the Minor Healing Gem.
Once you meet the equip requirement, you open the gem pouch by clicking on the gem pouch icon and place your gem there.
Note: You can only have a number of colored gems in your pouch equal to your skill in that school.
For example, 3 levels in Sorcery allows you to place up to 3 white and/or green gems in your pouch.
To use them in battle, you have to draw them. Drawing gems happens instantly without any input from the player. During battle, you'll see random gems pop up next to your character's face. When you see a gem you need, you drag the drawn gem from that slot to one of the slots on the gem bar above your character. By default, empty slots in the gem pouch spawn Escape Potions (50% chance to flee the battle; cost 10 energy/10 mana).
19. What happens if I die?
You respawn in the last town you visited, and lose an amount of Rested Time equal to your character's level. If you are a Player Killer, then dying results in permadeath, causing you to respawn in Castille at Level 1.
20. How do I trade or use auction?
First of all, you need to have a standard or premium (paying customer) account. Free accounts cannot trade or use auction.
If you have a paying account, you can trade by right-clicking on the picture of the person you want to trade with and selecting Offer Trade. The Trade Screen will open and you can select items (and gold) to trade to the other player. Once both parties are satisfied with the trade, you can press Confirm to carry it out.
Note: Traded items are not magically teleported to your location, so if you're not in the same place as the other player, you must go to his/her location to collect the item.
[auction part left blank; I have a free account :P]
21. Where is my storage?
Everywhere.
Nowhere.
Somewhere.
:P
LOL. Sorry again.
Seriously, you can store things for safe-keeping anywhere in the world of Nodiatis. This, of course, implies that if you store a Gate Potion in the middle of Fern Grove, then you'll have to go back there just to unstash your Potion. So, it's best to store things in towns. Stronhad (T2) is a nice central location to do so.
22. What are virtues and how do I get them?
Virtues are qualities we should all strive for in real life. :P
In Nodiatis, virtues are used to equip Epics. Epics are the strongest items in the game. Besides usually having above average stats for their required skill level, they also have an added effect, like "causes bleed over X seconds" or "creates damage shield of 5 points".
To get virtues, you must find the epic item that has them. Once you have the item in your possession, you right click on Purchase Virtues and you will get a prompt to purchase the Virtues required to use the epic item.
Most people buy them even if they don't want to use the item itself because each Virtue you have increases your exp gains by 1%.
Each Virtue costs 4.95 USD.
(Yes, they cost real cash. :P)
23. What's the fastest type of weapon (crush, pierce, slash, whip, staff, bow)?
[blank]
24. What's the best class?
Ah...the eternal argument. If this were Diablo II, I could probably answer that easily. :P
However, in Nodiatis, each class has its own benefits and any class can technically do anything.
As a general note though, to answer this question: I tend to be biased towards Adventurers. 3% exp gain for everything adds up pretty quickly and means that they can truly do anything.
25. What does my class bonus mean?
Each class has a extra bonus that sets it apart from other classes.
For example, the Adventurer class that I just mentioned above has a 3% exp gain to all experience gains.
The class bonus can be increased by leveling up Class Enhancement. However, since Class Enhancement is a Stat skill, it cannot be set to Passive Learning. I personally like to level up Class Enhancement when I'm out of Rested Time.
26. What gem colors should I train for my class?
Well, it's all up to what kind of character you want to play.
For obvious reasons, if you pick a caster class that favors certain colors of gems, then you may want to train those. Otherwise, White Magic is always a good pick, since it allows you to heal yourself (essential if you decide to battle solo, especially against Elites). I'm a fan of Blue Magic as well, because it has a lot of neat effects, like Taunt and Daze.
27. How do I level up staves?
Set Staves to Active Training in the skill menu (it's part of the Death Magic skills) and use Spirit Trophies on the appropriate altar. Alternately, you can always set it to Passive Training and level it up that way.
