Default Bounties

I was just discussing with a few clan mates over the idea of players posting gold bounties for PKs to claim. With the bounty system, players would be able to enter an amount of gold (minimum of 5k or a decent amount) on a player's head + tax. When a PK kills that person, the gold will instantly be added to the PKs account (in addition to the normal single stack loot).

Alts would be blocked from receiving the reward of the bounties (much as clan battles and self PKs are blocked). N's should also be prevented from receiving any bounty, either grouped or otherwise.

The most feasible way to make a bounty list is to add it similarly to the Tops List where people can check the boards to see what the current highest running total is. It's a lot of programming but would add another factor of fun and depth for peer to peer interaction.

Bounties should have a minimum of 5 or 10k or have a low minimum with no announcements to avoid spam trolls. However, with a high minimum, bounties could be announced publicly but the individual should be announced anonymously. It might be fun to add a chat option where players can have their names spoken if they choose to at the risk of bringing infamy to themselves (although the default should be anonymous).

This would promote:
1. More PKs
2. Ways for people to get revenge without risking too much
3. Mitigate boredom
4. Lower the inflation in the economy due to tax

It is reasonable to assume that the people with the highest bounties will be the most annoying trolls or incredibly powerful players in Nod. Incentives for incredibly large bounties should possibly allow the taking of more than 1 stack in an exponential fashion (100k bounty for 2 stacks, 400k for 3 stacks, 1 million for 4 stacks, 2.5million gold for a soulbound item + 5 stacks from the bounty board). Again, self PKs should be blocked to avoid exploitation. PKs could potentially post their own bounties targets they would like to "rob" so to speak. But the larger risk still lies with the PKs hunting and avoiding targets because they will lose everything if they die. A new system of bait and switch strategies will probably be implemented adding a whole new depth to PvP gameplay (besides arena). I hope you will consider all these ideas and incorporate it into one fair system in the near future.

SORRY FOR THE LONG POST and THANKS FOR YOUR TIME

Sincerely,
Qtpie

That's bull...

I like the idea of a bounty, but maybe instead of being from players, it is automatically given after a certain # of PKs or PK Points, and increases as more PKs are done and time passes.

For slow effects, use the slow % but as a negative.

Just repeat for multiple effects.

DO NOT multiply by 1+slow% to get your new delay. 1*1.4 is not the same as 1/0.6 and your answer will be wrong.

please learn to read before you make retarded comments.

the bounties would be put on normal players, to be PKed.

sooo id bounty you, and someone would PK you, and collect the cash.

as 1 of the clan mates that was discussing this, i support.

also, limiting them to paid players only, is a good idea. as you have to be paid to PK, and bountying the low lvl N's would drive away new players.

1. You're a ****ing hypocrite.

2. Sorry, I'll read more closely next time. I just assumed, since you don't often hear about about paying people to kill a good guy.

That's why. Using retard as an insult in one place and then saying they should be treated same as anyone else in another place.

I admit I glanced over this so if I misread/misunderstood some things I apologize and am open to correction. Honestly, I don't think is is a good idea as it would promote conflict. People would use the bounty system to get back at people that they found annoying, or had personal problems with for whatever reason ( a disagreement, irl problems with the person, etc).

I have been on a game where people stalked others (myself included) simply because they did not like them. In my case I was dealing with a bi polar guy who I tried to be friends with but he refused to try and manage his illness, one minute cussing at me, the next apologizing, then immediatly saying mean things again. I explained to him I found it difficult to be friends with him and we should just go our seperate ways. I wished him no ill will but from then on he started stalking my character, because I had him on ignore. I mean, I could not play the game AT ALL, simply because this guy couldn't take rejection well.

I would hate to see something similar happen here in Nod. If something like this WAS implemented, there would have to be more rules, such as perhaps people could sign up to be bounties, so it was only a friendly game of "catch me" and would not result in cyber bullying and stalking. Then it might be fun

I think it would be best if the bounty was irrevocable to avoid people playing games with it. Once the bounty's up there, it's there until that person is pk'd.

Bump to good pkk's given the improved bait, but it would also probably increase pk'ing. It's still a good idea and I support.

It's very easily exploitable. Say someone gets this hypothetical bounty of 2.5 million on them... any halfway intelligent troll will understand that it's easier to scam than to sit there under a stupid bridge all night long picking his nose. Said troll simply puts a paper bag over his head and goes into town to find some billy goats, and then offers them a split of the bounty to PK him. The billy goats PK him in an unobtrusive and incredibly well-known corner of the Scorchedlands and giggle about using a char named Bitchp until the big bad wolf comes to blow their house down. It's a classic story, really.

It's true that someone could stage a PK and get them to trade the goods over - however the main incentive is that at larger bounties, soul-bound items may be taken away. Even if PKs will be staged - clan-mates and others will want to steal possibly a 99 BP or weapon from a bounty put on a high level character.

And to address the other ideas, bounties will be added like rune power, it will be irrevocable and added to the anonymous gold-holding ether known as "Jeff"

I think the main caveat to implementation is the amount of coding that would have to go into this in consideration of the seeminging lack of "new features." While certainly no skills or pizazz will be added, it drives the game play to be more player fueled than monster fueled. Adding that X-factor will be great. Lowbies don't need to be afraid of being bountied (unless they're jerks) due to the fact they will not be holding much expensive loot worth the million(s) to get a soul-bound item. Even if the taking of a soul-bound item is not implemented and stack taking is upped, bounties would be a fun way to spend those uneventful Friday nights/Saturdays with no RRT and travel mode roaming.

In order to claim a bounty, you MUST turn into a PK (or already be a PK) so it doesn't come easy like clan battles to claim a bounty. The taker of the item will be at high risk to lose their recently acquired bounty - especially if low level. So in the context of a staged PK - the PKer would have to run around for 30 minutes without getting caught and that will be slightly harder for a staged PK to just simply get away.

Potentially, the amount of flashing red time could be increased depending on the level of bounty - up to 30 minutes added for each stack taken so that with the thievery of a soul-bound item, a person would be flashing for 3 hours (how exciting and ridiculous is that?) It seems like a good real world mechanism since if you kill a more notorious person, more fame/infamy would trail you.

Alternatively, the level range of the PK could automatically turn to 1-85 so that it really requires a vendetta to commit a bounty (or very greedy eyes) so that a larger number of people will be hunting for the PKer with loot.

There are already clan-PK prevention measures in effect and these would just be transferred over to the bounty system! Give it a chance and thanks again for reading the long block of text.

*bump* - this could be your pk incentive as described above if you take out the a few of the downs
