Better Moderation Needed
Better moderation, and punishments, are needed for people who break rules of the game, especially offensive chat in civil.
Taken from the game's Terms of Use, here is rule number 3:
3. Don't be annoying or a jerk to other players or moderators.
And some screenshots of people breaking those rules (finally able to post screenies. i tried to edit pics to hide guilty parties but i'm not that talented, sorry guilty parties...), not once, but multiple times, with absolutely no form of punishment whatsoever. The moderators just completely ignore such inappropriate behaviour.
I'm not saying we should go around squelching and banning people, (and we know some people won't get banned/squelched no matter how they act, as long as they keep paying,) but it would be nice to see at least some warnings and then maybe squelches for repeat offenders.

I do realize that everyone, including myself, breaks rule number 3, but it is time for it to stop.

i have said, and will repeat, the in games play favorites, they squelch those who are not in "favor" of their personal agenda.......we do need better mods, impartial to start, how can someone get squelched, then have a completely different person repeat the firsts action without recourse?
methinks the mods play favorites, but what do i know, I AM BANNED from civil for "inappropriate use of punctuation" (which, as it is, is common place now)
and i dont spend IRL $$ so my opinion doesnt matter.....
/endrant (if that was ranting)

i agree with this. i beleave the maderation thing where they showed how people were squelched was to shut people up about moderation. and then they got lazy/ went back to counting there money.../working on improving the game.
why not allow some player mods and a single real mod. i have seen other players tell the rule breakers to stop. if we had a bunch of player mods, they could controll it, and if they wrongly squelched someone the real mod could fix that and take away there moderator privlages. (where that 1 mod could be informed of every squelch.
i have also read the rules a lot. no talking about politics, religion, or sexual things. they do this anyway.

Player mods are unreliable and as likely (if not more) to play favourites.
I'm a decent guy and I keep my misbehavin' to /u, but there'd be a hell of a lot of people permabanned from civil if I held the Banhammer cos I'm sick of seeing the same old **** from them.
How would player-mods be regulated? Punished? Chosen? What happens if they quit? Sell/give away their char? Who judges the appeal process, cos you can bet your ass every retard in Nod would complain when they got squelched, just like they do now.
People keep complaining that Nod needs more moderation, then more people bitch when moderation is enforced.
People bitch that updates take too long, then say someone should watch chat all day every day, despite the fact that Nod is clearly run by a small crew in a garden shed. Yeah, let's take people away from the game and delay updates even more.

I was squelched for 2 hours the other day, and still have no idea why. I asked about this immediately in the forum, and of course received no response. This not only affected me, but also my wife who plays on the same computer. If a moderator is going to squelch people, there should be a way to find out why. I still believe that someone either made a mistake, or abused their power. If I did say something wrong, then I should have at least been warned, or informed as to why I was squelched. If it was a moderator abusing their power, then there should be some form of punishment for them, and some form of compensation for the unjustly squelched party.

I wasn't suggesting everyone get squelched and banned, but if someone gets squelched for saying the EXACT SAME THING as another person who did not get squelched, that just shows how biased mods are. Mod bias is also shown when someone doesn't get squelched/banned for using inappropriate words.

well, you get squelched for talking about religion. politics, drugs or sexual things... or i guess things that may sound sexual to people with already dirty minds :P. also for being a jerk, but i dont think you were being a jerk to anyone.
and another thing...here is an idea.
How about when someone is squelched, it also tells the person why the were squelched along with the message that they were squelched.

One person to watch chat 24 hours a day and another person busy explaining why people got squelched 24 hours a day. This would clearly be a far better use of the team than actually focusing on game updates or improvements.
As far as I can see, 99% of the people who bitch about being squelched are well known for being *******s in chat. Call me crazy, but I'm more likely to take the 10 secs to report someone who I regularly see ****ing about, filter dodging or being a general cockbag to people than I am to report someone who's usually well-behaved. I doubt I'm alone in this.
Biased? Sure. But if you regularly break the rules, you have no grounds to bitch if you get punished.

IM FAMOUS!!! Personally I just am gonna think Luk has a crush on me
Ok so fyi to everyone, Huggles is Lukutiss and a couple other spellings, and Nibbles, and prolly 1 or 2 more alts...someone who in the passed has been annoying or a jerk to others, including myself(imo, maybe not to others, as explained later). Sadly Im not the young innocent prude who is so offended that I have to take screenies and report them :\ Otherwise Luk would probably already be banned from what I remember, although he's been nicer, or more non-jerkish and/or annoying, recently...props to you!
Seriously tho. Nothing in the above screenies can be proved to be annoying or jerk-ish. Why? Well, tell me what your definition of annoying is, or your definition of a jerk is? B/c I can guarantee you that for every person who finds said things annoying or jerk-ish, I can find another who thinks said things arent annoying or jerkish. So lets be honest...it has to be without a doubt beyond "annoying" or "jerk-ish behavior" for it to be considered bannable. It has to be down right ugly or vulgar. Otherwise, EVERYONE would be banned from civil. Except for people who have never said anything in civil, or the 3-4 who have never said anything remotely close to offensive, let alone mean, or harsh.
You're on the internet. You need to realize, that it's not a room full of 6 year old girls playing hello kitty and barbies. There is a line somewhere...but it's squiggly and broken, and has been pushed around so much that you can't really tell where the line is, let alone where it should be. There will be insanely nice people. There will be incredibly rude people. There will be people who are both at different times. But the moderation is there for those who cross lines(as squiggly and broken as they are), and most likely you'll hear about it in one way or another. My advice...use the ignore option(after all, it's there for a reason), or better yet, if you don't like chats...TURN THEM OFF!!!11!1one1oneone You can always turn them on to advertise sales for 10 minutes or whatever, or just let stuff get sold on auction. Otherwise, you shouldnt be on the internet. Period.

Just repeat for multiple effects.
DO NOT multiply by 1+slow% to get your new delay. 1*1.4 is not the same as 1/0.6 and your answer will be wrong.
