Honestly I would get the melee slasher focused on tanking, and get the caster as primary healer and supplementary damage through casting.

Ok, so I think you're on the right track, I think that Archer, Tank and Healer as your group is so... limited, It's popular and all because it's simple and relatively effective but there is so much better, for PVP at least.
I know most of you arent going to agree with me but I don't mind, here is some free advice - be creative, think more toward the future. how fun would a stun lock be on there archer, or a Daze lock on the healer? 3 Big damage dealers whom can all throw support healing at the guy getting smacked will heal better then a single healer anyhow. plus damage output will be much better, but also consider that you may need to ressurect and such so an Angel as your caster is worth looking into.
Anyhow go with the flock and make a tank, healer and archer or be creative and come up with something fresh that is going to catch them with there pants down XD

Not true at all Mercenary.. a Priest or Angel will heal better then a full group of lil healers.. Lol a full healer will heal much more.. If you know nothing what you speak.. dont speak.. Easy enough
Having an archer that heals a lil a dps caster that heals a lil and a tank that heals a lil isnt as good as a full dps caster a full archer full damage no heals.. and a full healer would do better.. and be healed better...

Who said anything about 'lil healers' antwon, please explain to me how a 'full healer' could possibly heal more then say 3 chars with 3-5 DoT heals ea? maybe one with a straight heal thrown in.
Maybe i'm missing something here but.. 6 gem slots vs 9 - 15 slots?
I know what i'm talking about matey, see thing with DoT heals is that they stay on your bar, you can then draw out of your remaining gems which will be your stuns, conditions, whatever floats your boat and works for you, you're also not stuck with a guy that can only heal and smack people with a stave.
The class bonus for an angel or a priest doesnt really make much of a difference to healing power in any case.
Archers are also over-rated, i've yet to vs one around my level I can't best, and I can't even duel wield yet, they're damaging but slow and slightly more limited as you hit level 20 then a melee'er not to mention you have to throw your stats all over town to make them work.
Anyhow I'm not gonna start ranting but your saying I don't know what i'm talking about simply because i'm not doing what you're doing annoys me some, i'm just offering advice as I see it, if you don't want to take it thats fine ; )

Honestly, for ultimate damage, I'd say someone in your group have the Flare Up aura, then the caster herself fill the "combat gem slots" with recastable direct gems, except 1. That 1 free slot is to place the gems that keep showing up (and use them, ofc)
Essentially, you'll still have the gems keep on coming, but you'll also have 2 or more gems that are always ready every 10 sec. That's alot more dps.
So if you think recastable gems aren't useful, think again.
I got a magician (red & blue master) and that'll be something to see. Between the dazes, stuns and whatnot, and the direct damage and quick DoT, it'll be a sight to see.
Though I'll take my hat out to Warlocks' pure death direct damage ownage.

I think the recastable gems are great for the gem bag, and as for DoT, I go for the green and white gems, cause that is what I am lvling for the healing.
