Default why can't free players be allowed to buy in auction ??

wouldn't it make the whole economy more vibrant .. as long as u dun allow selling .. i dun see the diff from buying in store and from AH, except for the prices, so can u consider allowing free players to buy from AH ..

This will benefit even paid players as their wares will be bought by other player at better rates rather than selling back to store at such low prices ... thanks

because i wouldnt pay anything if i could buy in auction and not pay for it.
And because Jeff needs to put food on the table.
So, if you want to buy in auction, go feed Jeff.

player of paying account 1 puts up one rusted broadsword for 6000gold no one buys it assumes hes an idiot
player of paying account 1 on his free account 1 pays 6000 gold for one rusted broadsword thus making player of paying account 1 6000 gold richer, lather rinse repeat player 1 is now very rich

not just that, but, it should be considered a priveledge to be able to buy in auctions. remember, being part of the community of nodiatis is NOT a right, it is a privledge. and should be treated as such.
way i see it also, is you are asking jeff to spoil the non paying accounts more than he already does. and above the people who put the bread and butter on the table.
not saying that non paying accounts shouldnt have an opinion that should be heard, but i do believe, those who have forked over money, should be allowed to have a louder voice.
if you get what i am saying.

The only real issue that I can see here, is that someone - who has a paid account - might create a free account and farm, farm, farm, farm for gold.
And then the paid account auctions an item for a "ridiculous price" that no one pays, and then goes and pays the price with the free account.

But that is an extreme scenario that takes a considerable amount of effort, and a player would be better off just having 100% fun with 2 accounts instead of sacrificing 1 account, patience and time to have some slightly higher pseudo fun with another...
Because seriously, gold doesn't come that easily in Nodiatis...
It's not like you can easily level up (wich includes getting equipment to beat stronger mobs) and farm gold for another account at the same time...

So, on one side, it is "potentially" somewhat exploitable, even though requiring a silly amount of work.

On the other hand, assuming not every free account is a paid account alt -_- (and they're not) this would benefit the paid accounts in general by giving the auctioneers alot more people willing to buy their goods...

So the gameplay benefit, in my opinion, greatly outmatches the possibility of unwanted exploitation...

with the lowered gold recieved from quests its more of a grind, but its still more then doable, 20 new characters some are bound to have some really nice rare drops somewhere between the fisherman and the archer...

yeah nonpaying accounts if they where able to trade could quickly ruin the economy of the game not by flooding the market with good but by making a limited amount of people control the flow of the economy by over pricing goods by just buying out all the cheap goods and it can be as stated earlier used to gather the gold from multiple accounts into one which due to the fact you can make trophies with resins bought in town would allow overpowering of a limited group of players with lots of time on there hands

as a non-payer (considering paying!) i feel that the no right to buy is more than justified. there has to be some bonus' for the payers, and as stated there is always a risk of gold farming and market floods ect..... jst my two pennys worth

bassically, jeff has made it impossible to farm without forking over money. If you really want to use AH, just buy a subscription. its only 20 bucks. if you're to cheap for that, you must be living on the streets or something.

I don't think that works well enough...

If your "paid" account is strong enough to make/get nice stuff to auction, then the "new grinding free account" will make very little gold in comparison to what you need.

If you sell things overpriced, they'll still have to be within the price range of the "free account"....

And if you want that "free account" to give gold for a long time, you'll have to equip it well enough, wich means you will be making even less money for your "main" because you need to equip your free account as well...

It's not all roses.
And I didn't say you can't do "anything".
What I said was that the "cons" are little, boring and kind of unpractical... while the "pros" to all Paid accounts are immediate, since they'll have more people purchasing their goods, wich in turn makes Paid accounts even more appealing, specially while the game is growing.

If it proves to become a problem, however little that chance is, it can always revert back, after the game is already running with - most likely - a few more paid accounts than it might otherwise.

The reason free players can't trade is because of what we did in beta testing.

Basically when your RT runs out for your main character you start thinking "hmm...I've still got some time on my hands and would like to keep working on my character, but I'm out of RT"

Then you create another account, which has a fresh batch of RT to use, and you proceed to get trophies, gold, and boss loot for your main.

Repeat ad nauseum.

Or, if you just plain want to farm gold, you can creating infinite characters that one-hit the rats and crabs on the docks.

With enough bandwidth and computing power, a gold farming company can easily exploit this (this is the reference to hoards of asian children in basements farming gold that Jeff likes to use).

And that's why free accounts aren't allowed to trade.

i think all of you misses the point ..

u can still says that free account cannot trade .. so that what they get from farming or bosses drop cannot be traded and can only be sold at store.. as a benefit to paid players .. just that free player can buy from auction .. it will help to make auction move faster, free player can get some items cheaper at times .. why do u all assume opening up the AH to Free player will spoil things, i am not requesting that free players can sell things .. just the right to buy from AH .. that's all ....

Overlord, the problem is in free accounts being used to farm gold, and buying "trades" for cheap items (spider silks, for example) at ridiculous prices.

Imagine: a gold farming company pops up in some slum in Beijing, China. They have kids play Nodiatis, only raising class enhancement, farming gold in the docks constantly at a rate of, say, 14 characters a day (easily manageable in a sweatshop environment). The company could set up a site offering to sell Nodiatis gold, through the guise of taking an exceptionally ridiculously priced trade, for real life money. The free player's complaint that "the IRL 'rich' are only getting richer" is further strengthened.

This is to keep the people who can afford to spend tons of money on games from getting too powerful. It's for our own good.

i dont understand why u guys are all complaining about the lack of an economy, the game is not even 1 month old, the majority of players are below lvl 13. give the game some time to start steamrolling along and like jeff said the economy will be good. i dont see any reason to trade with free players in general they l would rather sell my equipment to the store then wait a month in storage to move it...

the thing u guys keep saying is that this is something extreme when it really isnt, any player can do this as many times in the day as they have.

i would much rather a slow starting economy and a strong one later when the prices are alot stiffer.

and now with the addendum of time cards pay 5$ or trade for one if ur desperate to buy something in auction

Overlord, you keep stating the same thing over and over. and then stating that people need to read. if you read what Somneil wrote, you would know the EXACT reason why free accounts are not allowed to trade in AH.

Say i make a char. we will call it Goldfarmer.
Goldfarmer then preceeds to make about 2k gold a day.
now, i have a quiver for sale in auctions, for 6k.
in 3 days, Goldfarmer has enough to buy said quiver.
i purchase the quiver.
and i start making 2k more a day with Goldfarmer.

rinse, wash, repeat.

HUGE expoitable opportunity. now i am not saying i would do this, because i wouldnt. however NOT everyone is going to be as forthright and honest as i am about things such as this.

is it not true that u need to be ONLINE to be able to sell in Auction .. so technically speaking .. only if i have a few computers, then would i be able to AUCTION off an item and buy using my own char ....

anyway these are all the extremes .. which seriously most likely will not happen

we will see which way the economy will go
