Surely Dest, if the healer / priest / support character isn't attacking, that's their choice in the way they have built their toon.
Do bear in mind that in medieval times, priests/monks could be found on the battlefield, often using non-edged weapons.
If Faith wants to sit in combat, pulling healing gems, and not even attacking with his staff, then that's up to him.
If you try another TC's worth of fights, and see, with him attacking, where you finish up, then statistically you may have a point.
In addition, where is the problem with the healer pulling DD gems (never heard of calling down the wrath of god?). With the staff attacks, some DD gems, and a few heals (which get you into your next fight faster), then you may find a very different picture
Also, priests get 5-15% bonus to all healing, whereas Angels only get 5-15% on all white magic. This does mean that the priest can fill the entire pouch with white/green heals at a far lower level than the angel, and at cap, they can have more high-ranking heals in pouch (green and white rank 10s, the angel only gets bonuses for the white). This makes them more effective healers than angels
