I'm sure there will be multiple types.
Sounds like a upcoming blast. Can't wait ^^
EDIT:Glitchless/Jeff, would you happen to have a rough time estimate for Wednesday night? It would make it easier to plan ahead of time for those of us who are usually busy throughout the week.

Can we change runes if we go from farming directly to the arena?

Arenas will occur in seasons at the end of which all ratings are wiped and victors are crowned so there's really no fear of being left behind. A strong team could emerge toward the end of the season and climb to the top as well given how it becomes increasingly difficult to have your rating climb beyond a certain point.

Yay! Absolutely great update!
And it looks like the matching system will work not only based on 3team ratings but lvls as well? so the chance the 3team of lvls 30+ being matched up to 3team of lvls 80 will be less and less as the season goes on.
However, will the pk status of a player influence the arena battling ? Dieing in arena while being a pk?
I want to kill and loot all on Menage, then

And that's why auto cycle stat to lv to cap and then delevel is a better idea.

All right, as I understand it, once you pick a team you are stuck with it for the season. Meaning if someone quits or rerolls in the middle of a season, you're out of luck. Would this mean that you pick a team and pay 25k per season (This is what I would assume), and then restart (the pick/pay process) at the beginning of the next season?

Players are free to leave their team and form a new one throughout the season. You can even replace a member who leaves or is kicked by the leader, however, doing so makes you lose 1/3 of your team rating.

So if someone dies IRL you lose 1/3.

I'm curious as to how match-ups will be done. I can see 30s fighting 30s, but what happens if you have a mixed team, let's say a team of a 50, 60, and 70. Who would they be fighting?

Travel Gear
I'm good with the arena stuff. Nice idea.
I'm not so crazy about not being able to store travel gear. Barsoom's at a level that he won't care much, but I have a lvl 22 alt that doesn't have a huge inventory level or decumberance. Dropping the torch while marching around t4/t5 is kinda nice. Similar arguments apply in a couple of levels when he won't be working the river.
Perhaps this could kick in only when you get to the crampons/waders/shine goggles stage.

match ups will be by ranking rather than level

Potential Concern:
The Glitchless notes indicate that the three team members must be grouped together at the time the arena battle begins. Will there be an advance notice to the group, such as a five or 10 minute warning? It is quite common for players to be logged in, but away from the keyboard for anywhere from a few minutes (bathroom break, trip to the kitchen, walking the dog, other family crisis) to several hours (playing while at work, etc). If advance notice is provided and one or more of the team members was AFK, it could ungroup, thereby not meeting the battle requirements, so as to avoid entering combat with an AFK player.
