The idea in general is alright. I for one would not mind a chance at an additional trophy drop chance, maybe along the same rate as, say... silk drops. Maybe a bit lower, I dunno. Here's how I think it should work, though.
Each mob has their own special trophy. These trophies give double (or triple or whatever) the normal amount of active experience, but there is a flip side: it can only be used at one specific altar. Say... Fiddler Crab trophy is for Weaponry only, Ship Rat is for Petsmanship, etc. These trophies would not decay, which would bring the trophy market up to speed a bit.
As for your suggestion about a permanent stat boost... I highly disagree with this, and I think everyone else will back me up here. If there was a trophy that added +1 to my Agi, I would totally farm them like crazy and shove my Agi through the roof. NOTHING would be able to hit me without using magic. And a few simple auras would cancel that out, especially since I am a Paladin. Not to mention the fact that all Defense levels would go straight to Cnt. It would severely overpower people capable of farming them in mass quantities, most notably those who can kill fast (archers atm) and those who can farm for extended periods of time (premium players).
