Standard/premium account length and pricing
For the moment, the only options to upgrade are either a standard account or a premium account, costing $20 and $50 respectively for a duration of 16 weeks. These prices are completely reasonable, but for some people, this amount of money can cause an obstacle. For some people, it's not possible to cough up this amount of money in one go.
I want to suggest the option to buy standard or premium with a shorter duration, so the threshold to purchase an upgrade becomes less high.
Of course I realize that upgrading for a longer period will guarantee a certain income, but it may also be an argument for people not to buy an upgrade. I know quite a few people (not including myself) that don't want to be stuck with an upgraded account for four months at a time, but would be willing to buy an upgrade for one or two months at a time.
My own primary argument is that I'd rather pay a smaller amount of money each month than spend a larger amount of money less frequently. I would even spend more on a month long upgraded account than I would on a longer period.
A 4 week period standard would amount to $5, and premium to $12.50, but I would be willing to pay, for example, $7.50 for standard and $15 for premium, if the option was present. That would still make it more luring to buy an upgrade as they are offered now, but it may lower the threshold for people that don't want a 16 week account or can't afford it in one payment as well.
I know that some people would say it's a crazy suggestion, and it's easy to save up for the account upgrades, or earn it somehow, but if it can motivate more people to upgrade, then why not, right?
Any feedback, on this idea or towards me, would be welcome. I'm trying to figure out how plausible my idea is, or if perhaps I've truly lost my mind. lol
Thanks for reading my post.
