Well now I want one even more! I'd have to do it if it was a weapon for sure... I'm a sucker for cool weapons
Edit: BTW, did you notice if it was possible to click exit on the guy who got the epic drop before he looted it so a different one of your characters could loot it? Wondering about that...

I think it should work like this:

You need to purchase the virtues in order to:

1) Trade an epic to another player
2) Auction an epic
3) Equip an epic

You do not need to purchase the virtues in order to:
1) Receive an epic in a trade from another player
2) Buy an epic from auction

Because almost immediately after I found out Decker had the epic, I wanted to borrow it from him just to purchase the virtues. I can't do that and that's cash you're missing out on Jeff.

I deleted all the posts after mine because I had stated something that is no longer true and it lead to a discussion that would confuse readers.

Here's how it works now:
If you buy the virtues for an Epic item you can now trade it to other players and auction it. They will have to buy the virtues after they buy it from you to be able to use the Epic. And of course the virtues you buy are permanent so even when you get rid of the epic you keep the virtues. Even if you die in perm death you keep your virtues, they never leave you.

So simply put pay $5 per 1% increase in xp and "borrow" an item while you're at it.

And you should now be able to do what you're suggesting Somneil. Here's the scenario:

Decker gets an epic drop.
Decker buys the virtues for the epic.
Decker offers you the epic in trade - even if you two are not in the same zone.
You receive the epic in your storage in a remote location, you can still right click it and purchase the virtues.
You can then trade the item from your storage back to Decker.

Not a good idea to do this with someone you don't trust with your life. Or at least trade gold collateral worth the price or more than the price of the epic.

Not sure how much I like the fact you can essentially buy experience already but whatever....

Genius from a business perspective....

It's no more buying experience than getting a standard or premium account is. In fact its harder because you have to actually get an epic drop or know someone who has one that hasn't been equipped yet in order to do this hot potato virtue purchase thing.

I suppose so.
It does finally give reason to selling an item to the store and then rebuying it to get the soulbind effect off.

Being slightly cynical on the epic item/virtue thing kind of gave me an idea but I'll post that in the appropriate thread.

Hey Decker, any chance at posting a screenshot of the item itself? I'm curious about a few things.

Ya that's against the rules. With enough gold collateral that shouldn't be necessary.
