First post, questions & suggestions
hey all im new to the world of nod... think it is a pretty fun little game with some potential, some of the things i like are the passive XP gains, gem system and the trophy system also *shared bliss* is a nice touch heh... the game seems bug free so far too, haven't had a single glitch at all.
the world seems pretty big and like it gets challenging later on, but im only level 10 so far so i dunno.
Couple of things I kind of don't like though :
Why is CPU usage is so high for this game?
I hover around 60-70 % usage on a 2.4 ghz intel dual core with 4gb of ram, thats a lot of crunching going on for what seems to me be a somewhat simplistic graphical game engine.... not like we are running 3d graphics, per pixel lighting and soft shadows heh...in fact ive played some broswer based 3d games with far less CPU usage.
FYI Ive tried running the game in the latest versions of firefox, IE, Opera, and Chrome, and have only installed the latest java update, and im running win 7 64bit.
I find CPU usage is *slightly* lower in firefox, but the game runs smoothest in the chrome 4 beta overall, especially if you hit f11 and go full screen 8).
Any plans to code some optimizations? Seems to me there is some heavy room for improvement.
Also, i think the pricing for some things in this game are pretty skewed... I am already a premium account but on top of that.... 150 bucks for virtues? Talk about kicking your core customers in the balls...I think the grinder and accelerator pack should be a one shot price for both. Also where are the set epics?
Why are timecards only tradeable if I purchase through paybycash, which charges a fee? Again, just another slap in the face, for no reason. In the end you are looking at 250+ dollars for one account to be set up as it should be out of the box..... and thats not even including monthly subscription fees!!!
I like the game, but thats excessive... 300 bucks buys a lot of entertainment, in real life or you could get several other games.
i know development costs money and there are bills to pay, but it seems a little skewed with the current model.

I only go up 1% when I run it

No idea why

virtues also give an exp increase for each virtue they are permanent and you don't need all thirty you can get by with about 20 of them depending on which epics you use

Time cards are trade able through paypal but only 1 per week this is to prevent people stealing paypal accounts to flood the game with tc's and wrecking the ingame enconomy

you Also can get everything in this game for free if you work hard
and to be completely honest you should have waited until about level 20 or so to buy everything

Ok the whole package such as Acceleration and Grinder and Premium and Virtues should not and are not intended to be bought right away. Or atleast that is how people who cant dump the majority of their pay towards a game.
And as for the TCs only being tradeable if you use paybycash and some others prevents people from buying TCs with money they dont have and trading them everywhere else. Which would lead to better things seeing as how litte to no rollbacks could take place.
From personal expierence i had a friend on here way way way back that bought TCs and used them and then at the end of the month couldnt pay for them so Jeff froze his account and he decided not to pay to unfreeze it. So imagine if they were to go into circulation with the other TCs. Couldnt that case be used by more players to lower the cost of TCs for gold and not paying for them. Players could buy the TCs and then trade them to friends or other accounts they have and only have the account that did it frozen. Or trade them to people they hate and freeze their account and the ones that bought them thinking it was a friend.
It is basically to prevent people from using it as an exploit.

they can be crafted as well
however the guy's observation is pretty accurate
i started with 5 accounts on wow 3 weeks ago (multibox)
5x 14$ for classic
5x 14$ for first upgrade
5x 30$ for latest upgrade
5x 30$ for 2months game card
with refer a friend this means i'm good till end of february
cost me $450 in total, and as of march 50$ per month, for 5 accounts. Per account i can make several toons, play several classes, etc ... without any limitations
And best of all: i can play all day long without having to spend more money for rested time. Compare that with nod and i wouldn't even have 2 accounts with all upgrades here, that i can play 1 hour a day each at normal speed. That's quite a substantial difference. So yeah nod is a money sink compared with other games.
However i've enjoyed every minute i have played nod. So i guess it's worth the money if you really enjoy it.

How does someone stealing my paypal account have anything to do with the fact timecards purchased through one service which costs more are tradeable and through paypal they are not. How can someone steal my paypal account through nodiatis? And what does this have to do with the ability to trade timecards, the transactions are instant either way.
end of story.
Furthermore could you post your system specs, which version of java, and which browser you are running that only increases CPU by 1 percent?
To epic gear your character in this game costs extra money, and the people interested in epics are your core gamers.... it is wrong to ding them extra as they are already supporting the game, not freeloading.
The fact that the bonus packages are not meant to be purchased right away are irrelevant, the costs are too high, and from a new members standpoint, prohibitive...
like the poster above said you could have 5 separate wow accounts...
It's a good idea to have free accounts in order to entice new player to join the community, but in the end they are not free... the paying players are floating the bill to make up for it.

I agree that Nod could be a heck of a lot less resource intensive, which would make it more alt friendly.
However, Nod also uses up VERY little bandwidth, as compared to other games.
I can play 5 Nod accounts easier than I can play 1 Runescape account and 2 Nod accounts.
Edit:
To test that it wasn't just that the accounts were linked on the same stream of information:
It was also more bandwidth intensive to run 1 Runescape account, 1 Nodiatis account, and 1 Legend: Legacy of the Dragon account.
Note that Legend: Legacy of the Dragon is a great game, but uses more motion graphics as compared to Nod.
I played Runescape on the highest resolution settings AND lowest settings to test if higher graphics were streamed better or not, they were, but steal used MUCH more bandwidth than Nod, but a heck of a lot less resources.
