Default Golem Gems..

for casters, the gem summons a golem, skeleton, dragon, etc, that takes the place of the caster for a certain duration, 30 sec, 60 sec, etc. the gem should only be accessable by two hand stave users, to avoid other classes using them.. each golem should also gain exp along with the caster.

interesting idea. but maybe instead of being damage walls (such gems already exist), what if they took a pet slot? basically it would be a really strong pet that existed for a short time. i like it.

I would prefer if the summoned pet used mana/energy to stay around.

As in, it starts out at 1mana/energy per 10 second, and as you summon a stronger one, the amount per 10 seconds increases.

Either way I support.

good idea, but pets dont absorb damage, and damage walls arent that useful until later lvls and casters have low health, while the golem is in play the caster should be able to recover health, or can even be ressurected by certain golems, possibilities are endless.
i think when the gem is used it should disable whatever pet you have equiped and replace the caster because golems should be buff and differ in abilities, ex if you cast a skele golem, it should be immune to dark magic and can absorb health with each strike..

good idea too, either mana or energy, if the golem drains both mana /energy, the caster will be too weak to continue after the duration ends..

a few mana per 10 seconds isn't too bad. and at high levels, you'd be getting that much back per tick anyway. this would be a good idea to incorporate the "dragon" pet idea, as well as other mythical creatures.

edit - oh yeah, they could be "epic" gems too. maybe. to give epics some actual distinction.

nice idea, i like it being worked into the pet slots thing.
maybe call them 'familiars' or whatnot.. ;-)

I still resent staff magic users having to depend so much on staff damage though :-(
