Default Which classes need work?

Glitchless has up a thread for weapon types that need work - how about specific classes? In regards to weapon balancing, any given weapon *should* be useful and powerful in the hands of a certain class. for example, piercing rogues do pretty well, despite being a bit weaker than other meleers; beastmasters with pets are vicious; etc. but some classes are just...not used. and if they are used, they're done so for the purpose of playing a weak class.

personally, i think ranger is by far the worst combat-oriented class. when you're hitting 300+ (not to mention crits) on a regular basis, a 20-30 min starts to not matter so much. especially when there isn't even a bloodlet bonus for min damage. to be blunt, min damage *never* comes into play at higher levels, and even if it were to do so, it is absolutely pathetic even when compared to slash, whip, staff.

thoughts?

To be honest I completely agree.

I started a Thread some time back,

there is also This Thread

And This thread by Kimogigi

Asyd. started This thread on alternative class bonuses, many of them good ideas.

I think there are many alternative options for a class bonus to rangers would would be comparible to that archers get. I agree green magic bonus fits with the idea of a ranger relatively well, and since the introduction of Heal over Time gems could actually, eventually, be useful.. when your about lvl 40+ and have maxed out Class Spec and Class Enhancement.
It may also help with Antigenisis damage over time gem...
But I believe the bonus to min damage is completely useless.. especially if you have put a lot of stats into cnc and int, you'll rarely hit near your min damage.
personally, I think either a change to attack rate, increased change of poison secondary archer skills taking effects.. or ...
my favourite current thought is rangers getting reduced penalties to using whips and a bow. The recent changes took the delay from 15% to 50% for DW whips while using a bow. I think it fits very nicely with the ranger 'idea' that they have an animal companion, and so maybe bonuses to their Beast Master skills etc, so long as they are using a bow.

Hey guess what?

We have new skills coming in on the 21st of this month, then the raising of the level cap in October.

As of right now, it would be pointless to discuss classes that are "underpowered" or "overpowered" due to the skills that are going to be released.

Wait until December, that way we can have a couple of months with the new skills before complaining. Also, at least 1 month with a raised level cap.

Thread is pointless at this time.

the whole point of the thread is that skills are coming out. do you think glitchless would have put up the poll he did, if he already had his skills planned out? i know for a fact that he can come up with the programming for several new skills in 2-3 hours since he did just that after i posted a thread about dot's being underpowered.

Before too long, threads like these will be commonplace.

Why? Everyone wants credit for having Jeff "balance" classes.

This thread could have waited another month or two.

I do believe that the skills planned before this thread, right here, came out, were already being coded and tested to correct "balancing issues" with classes.

There are no classes that need balancing. What does need some minor tweaks though, are certain weapons.

Piercing could use some extra damage, Crushing could use some higher max damage and more weapons, epics could gain the accuracy they lost, and there could be some REAL epic gems.

The thread would've been better off if the subject was "what needs balancing" or something similar.

At the very least I would like to see all current skills working that aren't yet implemented.
