Default imbueing of weapons..

I was thinking about it as a rune property but it didn't quite fit the requirements for that so maybe it can be added as a general thing:

It would be nice if weapons, in particular staffs, could be imbued with magic properties.

Say, you need a certain minimum level in a relevant colour of magic, and in some enchanting/ crafting skill.
Maybe you need some materials too (like with enchanting stones or crafting recippes), but instead of an enchanting stone you come out with a elemental crystal or some such.
the enchantment takes the place of any stat alterations that would be on the staff.

Red magic = fire.
blue = ice.
green = poison.
etc.

This is mostly to help staff users, especially early on in the game before magic becomes more and more dominant.
Could also be applied to other weapons but I feel staffs should gain the largest bonuses from such an addition.

I like where this idea is going but i think we should broaden it; it would give a secondary use to all the runes that are floating around out there.

Question, if it used runes then how would you tell the difference or would you recommend something else get added to each rune signifying what bonus it gave?


Btw I do agree with the idea, just curious.

yeah just like diablo 2... lol.
Oddly, despite having spent hundreds of hours playing it, it didn't click thats basically what I'm ripping off here.

Didn't imagine the crystals to look quite like that though...
Incidently a vampires gaze helm and windforce bow would be really nice for my ranger :-)

The rune used on the weapon would be stated when the weapon is highlighted. It would be stated with the other stats.
