Critical Strike Screen Flash
I was just thinking that when the screen flashes red upon a critical hit or "Splatting" the spider on the left side, it really bothers my eyes. I don't have bad eyes or anything, but my eyes seem to get all buggered up for a second whenever the screen flashes red.
Perhaps as an alternative to the screen flashing red, the damage dealt with a critical hit could instead be displayed in larger numbers.
If not larger numbers for critical hits, then maybe an option to toggle on/off the screen flashing red on critical hits (and killing the spider).
I crit often; the screen flashing is getting annoying - and my eyes are saying help me.

umm does the entire screen flash red when you hit a crit, or when the mob hits you? it doesnt flash if the mob crits, its every time it does a certain amount of damage, i think. a simple solution: toggle/dont splat the bug :P

when a mob crits you with physical damage, the screen goes red. when it crits you with magic, the screen goes purple. I think the flashing screen should be toggleable, and agree with the larger flashing numbers. Maybe even add "crit:" to the front of the number

the flashing can be annoying sometimes, but its usually a hint that you need to get out of there or finish the kill fast.
i hate to burst your bubble or w/e but crits have nothing to do with the red or purple flash you see.
it is only triggered when you take a large hit. ive seen it when taking normal damage (from daze, lvl 90+, or berzerked enemies). i rarely see it from the critical hits on me. its probably calculated as a certain % of your max health.
just stop getting powerlevelled and it will go away...
anyway, heres a pic of a smaller crit not causing the flash if you dont believe me

concerning the take lots of damage part, I don't take lots of damage except in duels and i still get it every now and then against mobs. Being able to toggle the red screen off would help, hell it might also address some of the lag issues some people have.
And zom was only using the spider as an example.

Ty for understanding what I meant Reejery Haha
But yeah, just being able to toggle on/off the screen flash would be a nice break for my eyes.

This looks like a good idea to toggle off or put the critical in large numbers - it should be put into the Interface Options.

It's not like it gives me seizures but it is hard on the eyes. Maybe a voice could yell CRITICAL STRIKE or YOGA FIRE or something...
Large numbers is also an option, mind you people would complain about that too.

which would people prefer, something that might cause blindness, or larger numbers?
oh and its also caused by that lovely bloodlet ability all mobs seem to have.

My perception of the flash is that it almost ALWAYS happens when you get hit. The degree, or size, of the flash depends on how much damage you take. Watch the screen closly when you get hit even with fairly small amounts of damage and you will see small flashes. The bigger the hit the bigger the flash.
I also agree with Z... this would be a great candidate for a toggle.
