I agree with this idea, it would seriously help clean chat up.
And if screen shots are asked for it will stop people abusing it and getting people they don't like banned from civil.

The reports will be checked by Glitchless to see if they are viable for punishment.
The report will auto-hilight the person's text and give the player's name. The report will not auto-punish.
The player will take a screenie to make sure Glitchless doesn't "accidentally" read over it and throw it out, due to the player being a little suck up.

it would be pretty good but civil does seem to have a built in report feature I have noticed, when I have stirred the civil pot I could go 20-25 messages before squelch then the next time after the squelch I only went 5 messages before the squelch and now I don't spam,
on my Alt that I used to get squelch to check that exploit I had to go 40 messages with spamming and stirring the pot I don't want to risk a civil ban on all my alts to check if that auto report is there not that I can on that alt since it got a civil ban

Bleh, if it's that big a deal to people they'd take the time to screenie and e-mail it.

I think there is a distinction between civil posts that are irritating (e.g. spam, bathroom humour) and posts that are hateful (e.g. racism or personal assaults).
For spam, I'm with you, Ammy: Screenie, report, ignore.
For hateful comments, it is important that someone follow-up and make sure action is taken against the offender. If all we do is ignore, then the hate will continue and turn other people off the game.
To the credit of Glitchless, civil is better today than it was a couple of months ago, but it still has issues and bad actors can make the experience ugly for literally days. I heartily support the notion of a report button.

True. So yeah, a report button would be nice.
But if you are still sending in screenie's and repeat offenders don't get anything done because of bias, what makes a report button make it any different?

It's just a quicker way to report. But yeah, People would be report happy and click their buttons like mad. But Glitchless would still need to have proof that there was a rule broken. Honestly I don't think they'll implement it. Would cause them too much work to have to check ever single report click.

If people spam in reports and if there is nothing worth reporting, that person is permabanned from game and forums, along with any alts and anyone else on the same e-mail address/IP.
Also, you have a point Mel. However, if people report every single offender, and nothing is done. People will know something is up if nothing is done.
Simple, no one knows if people send in an e-mail reporting. But if people grow up and admit to clicking the report button and Glitchless then doesn't do anything to the offenders, then people will start questioning the morality of the Admins.
But because of Glitchless actually having to take action against the rule breaking Civies if this thing is implemented, Glitchless will shoot it down.
What will it be Glitchless? You shoot it down, we know something is up, we all know how you want the "filth" out of Civil.
You accept it and then you have to enforce the rules, unless you want the same people to be constantly reported. The players will not allow the equivalent of a Presidential Pardon in this game for much longer.

Once again tired of you lumping everyone in civil together, as rule breaking kiss-ass players exempt from punishment.
And People can admit to sending e-mail reports as easily as admitting pressing a report button.
And a perma ban from game for spam reporting ii a little harsh imo.
