Default A few questions from a newbie :)

Hi there I've been messing around on Nodiatis for like the last 3 days in some of my spare time and I've been reading around the forums a bit. Anyways I've made a warrior using crushing weapons but there seems to be much nicer slashing weapons early in the game. I've also read that for the most part people think that slashing weapons are better than crushing weapons now due to an update or something. Piercing weapons are apparently even less inviting . I guess my questions are:

1. Are slashing weapons really that overpowering at the moment? I plan to PvP as that's what I've enjoyed in other games so please keep that in mind .

2. Is it alright to play more than 1 toon at the same time? I don't have much time to play but would like to try a few different playstyles.

3. Is there anyone willing to perhaps chat with me breifly in game or something about the ins and outs of Nodiatis? I've worked some things out and read a fair bit but I guess I just prefer being able to chat to someone about the game.

Thanks

Edit: Ignore the sedond question :P

1. Slashing weapons are very good for the higher levels. It doesn't really matter what you use until about level 10. Then you should start focusing on what weapon-type you want to be using throughout the rest of the game, and as I said, slashing is very good for the higher levels.

2. *ignores* X3

3. I am Yunimori in-game, just like in the forums. If I am online when you are, I would be more than happy to chat with you and help you if I can.

Have fun playing Nod!

Edit: What Zenga said is true, and I forgot to mention it. -_-; The higher level slashing weapons are only good if they are epics. Though, with the recent change with epic weapon accuracy, that may no longer be true.

Also, do NOT go for piercing, whatever you do. They aren't good weapons at all.

In the early game (that is to late 30 levels) slashing weapons are very powerful, the bloodclaw and the zombie claw are the way to go for a melee fighter. That is when you plan to use epic weapons, they require both 2 virtues however (= 4x 5$ or you can buy 4 time cards with ingame gold, which will be very hard to achieve nowadays). They are definitely worth it though.

I only play a warrior/crushing combo in the end game, as warriors get a bonus for max damage. I really don't see the use of slashing for a warrior, unless its a 2H slasher. Crushing weapons beat slashers when equipped on a warrior. So forget what yuni says about the end game. But that is of course a personal matter. Once you reach the higher levels, it's pretty easy to switch weapon type and relevel another weapon skill from scratch.

So in a summary for me the way to build a warrior is: till level 55 use epic slashing weaps if you want to spend $ for the virtues, from there use crushing till the cap. If you plan to use regular/rare weapons, just use crushing weaps from the start.

Yes you can have as many as you want. However if you want an upgrade (accel, premium, virtues, w/e) you will need to buy it for every toon. You will benefit from making 3 chars, keep them at the same level and group them.

I suggest a warrior, a beastmaster and an archer. Those builds are versatile and you can spread the skills around. Of course there are way more builds, but i find that this combo rocks.

The best way to go is just ask your questions on the forum, as multiple people read it and multiple people can 'check' the replies, whereas in the game chat -with all due respect- mainly low level players with a limited amount of knowledge will answer your questions. And i can't count the times i've seen helpful low lever players gave totally wrong info.

I'll second this, and add it's also very common for questions to get moved downscreen, out of the chat window and lost before players notice, especially if there's an active (or hyperactive) conversation happening. Also some players have under lvl 5 and/or free accounts on ignore (this reduces spam), so you'll be missing out on their expertise. Forums are handy for queries.

Thanks for all the advice

I've decided to make a second toon, and archer. I've been reading around a little but and am still confused about stat distribution

Could someone with personal exp suggest a layout I could follow with some success? I'd appreciate it.

I'm perfectly happy to level it as a PvE based toon then change it to PvP later.

Thanks!
