this has to be the dullest update to date. all that was added was better versions of gems already ingame, nothing new. also was it nessesary to add another increase max DD aura? and why is that the only aura that got updated?

nice to have new gems but...
they follow the same mana/energy cost and damage pattern that was already in place for previous gems. feels like no new content because there are no new gem concepts, just copies of the old gems with better numbers
maybe this will make people start a caster character...but i was really hoping for a little innovation with gem ideas, considering how many good ideas are posted.
oh well, i guess simple updates are good to keep simple game simple

I have 2 questions: to what extend (%) will the epics do more damage/eat less energy, and what are the odds to find them next to a regular epic find (and if it's pure luck or if its skill/rank/zone based).
Guess the first we will see once a few have been found. The second would be nice to get an answer fro glitchless.
Apart from that i think this is a patch that the game needed. Epic gems can be used by non casters as well. It opens a whole set of new possibilities. I'm thrilled.

roughly 22% better if i did math right.
non-epic white DD: 500E = 720 max damage
epic white DD: 450E = 806 max damage
500/450 = 1.11 (11% cheaper)
806/720 = 1.12 (11% stronger)
22.23% better
edit: i did maths all wrong lol
10% cheaper cost, 8.35% stronger

This should give casters ( and yes zenga every one can use them but casters will benifit the most) a bit of an edge in duels/DM's because you cant inspect their pouch. I can atleast know if the warrior i am about to duel/dm will rock my **** if they have 8 epics and i have 0, however, if a caster has all rare equip they could still rape you if they have a pouch full of epic gems. Would be neat if we could see either the gems they have equiped or a breakdown of color (x number of red/x number of blue/x number of green......) and then a breakdown of rarity (x number of grey, x number of common, x number of rare, x number of epic)

Well you can't see equipped runes either. Nor can i see as a crusher if my opponent has the stun aura in his pouch or not. It could influence my decision. Once i've been in combat with someone, i'll have a better idea of what he does and i can adapt my tactics.
I wouldn't mind a breakdown like: x has 9 epic gems in his pouch. But I don't see the benefit either, as you can see the gems in play from your opponent.

the only real thing i think it could effect would be DM's. would be nice to know if the person your about to DM has epic gems also. but yes not that big a deal.

well...there was not much creativity put into this update, for all the hype it was given...but it's definitely a big buff to casters. is it too big though? consider the consequences...
- much higher potential damage for casters for much lower cost. sure, 10~% each way isn't so much at first glance, but it adds up fast
- overall power of a caster's pouch can now be immensely greater. for example: before the patch, a necro would have to have, say, 4 level 16 blacks, 4 level 15 blacks, 4 16 reds, 4 15 reds. now, that same caster can have 8 16 blacks, 8 16 reds. if you've got 50 gems, a majority of which were under the max level a caster could use, or of a different color than the caster's potential casting level, this sudden shift is a major power boost.
one or the other would have been great - for example, a boost to the gems already in the game, or allowing a gem handling buff so staff users could use more of the same type. but this is kind of...overbuffish.

one thing we are forgetting is the rarity of epics. most players only require one epic of some sort except an arm or leg which require two to complete a set. but with gems more high end caster require 4 to max out. I realize there is not a crap load of caster out there but I wouldnt expect to see someone with a full pouch of epics anytime in the near furture.

It will be rather exciting to find these gems, to be sure.
Can't wait to see their associated costs -- both store value & market value.

@Chrism: He's been saying epic DD/DoT gems would be released. Maybe epic healing gems will be added in the future.
Ditto to RichP. Acquiring 8 epic gems sounds highly unlikely.
