Noob Question

Ok, I have just gotten what (for me) is my first decent drop. At least I think its a decent drop, I may be wrong. Its a "Energetic Rune" Rank 2, (common)
Slot 1 Prereq.
ArcheoRunology (20)
Each incremental slot req.20 ArcheoRunology
Dominance req. 100
Territory Req. 10
Activation cost 250,000
Grants 6% bonus to energy regen rate.
Now to be honest, I have no clue what I am looking at.(Ive been playing a grand total of 3 days and am still just learning everything there is to learn).
I dont know what to do with this thing. I dont want to just sell it to the merch. 1 reason is I cant figure out how to see what I will get out of it from him, and 2nd, I KNOW I wont get near its value from the merch. and 3rd, I have no clue of its value. (although I could just go to a merch that may offer it and see what it sells for, just thought of that one).
Now for my question...
I would like to offer it for auction maybe, (depends on what kind of response I get here), but I don't as of yet have a paid account. I tried trading with my husband yesterday (who has just started playing as well), and it said we couldn't trade because we don't have paid accounts. So, do I need to just hold it till I can get a paid account to auction it, or can I auction it even though I am still a non paying player?
Please forgive my stupidity at the moment, to be honest, I still have no clue what I'm doing in the game yet, but I'm slowly learning.
If the item is worthless, please say so, or if someone knows an aprox. value I would appreciate that as well. And any info on selling would be a major plus as well. I know all this info is in forums somewhere, but for the life of me I cant find it.

As a non paying character (or N as its commonly called) you cannot trade or sell anything to anybody in any way(except for if *you* wanted to buy a timecard from someone else). The rune you've found is basically, not worth the slot its taking up in your inventory or storage. No ones gonna buy it because the only people who can use runes are people who are in clans, chances are the majority of people in clans that can use runes, have a large enough player base to farm a large variety of runes themselves, thus not needing to buy them. Imo still get the paid account, as its well worth it to be able to trade and buy things from other players, just dont do it because you wanna sell a rune.

To answer your question about what youll get for the rune from a merchant, youll recieve nothing, theres no sell to store price for runes.

I agree, destroy the rune. Runes are not "worth" their stated value since they are plentiful. Or, hang on to it and if you eventually join a clan you can donate it to the clan.

You can destroy an object anywhere, if that's what you want to do with it.
