OK i have been thinking about this a while so i gathered all the info to put forward this suggestion.

With some of the recent patches and certain types of chars getting buffed this got me thinking. what is stopping someone getting 100 in all skills. Answer=Time
the time to reach them...lol

anyways on to my point i think the % bonuses should be completely changed to lvls instead. so +20% to melee would change from extra exp to 0% exp bonus but increase melee to max 120 lvls.

lets say using a build of 100,0,100,80 for example for warrior = 280 stats
new lvls would be 120,0,110,50 = 280 stats..

Warrior +20% melee -20% magic +10% def -5% rec
Warrior new max lvl 120 melee 80 magic 110 def and 95 rec bonus stays the same

Druid 0% melee +10 magic -13% def +5% rec
Druid new max lvl 100 melee 110 magic 87 def 105 rec

Alcoholic +10% melee -23% magic +20%def +0% rec
Alcoholic new max lvl 110 melee 77 magic 120 def 100 rec

anyways it ws just something i was thinking about to make character selection more important

So every newly created char would be exactly the same.
The difference would only be seen for high level players (a minority in the game), which is in my view a bad idea.

The newly created Warrior will have a harder time leveling melee even though he's supposed to have a bonus.

And consider the new player, advised by a friend to play nod. One of most interesting thing about nod when you first create a char is the large numbers of classes.
It would be almost irrelevant to chose a class rather than an other unless you pay for the game, only way to get your char at a decent level fast.

If now people have to pay to even get the bonuses of a class (and that is how the new player will first see it), you can be sure it will hinder the population of nod to grow. Some will gave up the game without even playing a bit.

That might be best.

I will add, with Flash idea : It would be more difficult for a lower player to try to make his char unique by leveling only magic for instance, thus leaving the following choice to a N : "want a unique char ? pay or leave". (it's caricatural on purpose, but you get the idea)

i meant this as an upgrade for all chars not just a $ pruchase. a lvl 1 warrior as an N can still get to 120 melee

I still want this. Even though damage is capped, it shouldnt be the same case with DUR :S

Wait: what about mages who want high defense levels?

I know, i understand what you mean. But a N cannot expect to get to 120 melee that easily. It would take several years. That's too long of a wait to finaly get the bonuses. That's my point : to actually get those bonuses in a reasonnable time, he would have to pay. Not that this is actually a bad thing, but he might feel pressure to pay if he wishes to play and have the bonuses, which cannot be good. He might decide to leave nod instead.

What klippi says is true too, what if a mage wants high defense levels ?
A caster would be forbidden to get defense at 100 ? that doesn't seems right.

An alternative would be, for instance, for warrior to be allowed to raise only melee and defense above 100.
Like being able to reach 120 melee 100 magic 110 def and 100 rec. But by being limited by a total skill of 400.
So he could chose to have 100 melee 100 magic 100 def and 100 rec
or 120 melee 80 magic 100 def and 90 rec for instance.

And that, in addition to the % bonus (I still think removing the % bonus is a bad idea)

I don't know if i'm being clear, my english isn't very good.

Oh, yes of course.

I was in a level cap 100 hypothesis. Well 280, as long as the level cap is 70, sure.
