Archer Shield
Why does a shield only block on auto attack and not auto shoot?
An Archer gets the penalty for wearing a shield by shooting 25% slower.
Seems an unfair penalty if all you get is the AC?
This may only be on my char or only Rangers, please comment.

I would like to know how an archer is using a shield while trying to attack with his bow.

We all know this game does things differently. If I can equip it, why doesn't it work?

And that is why there is a 25% penalty I guess.
I just wish it worked.

boon, i think it happens that way, for the same reason you can not have a staff and bow/arrow/quiver equipped at the same time.

But I can equip it, it effects my AC.
I can't equip a staff, but I can equip a whip and get it's benefits with the 25% penalty, or 50% with 2.
I just wanna know why I can equip it, get the penalty but not the use of it.

My guess is that it's too much of an advantage: you get the extra ac but not the block chance + blocking skills.

First of all, join a clan and use an ironclad rune instead of a shield, rank 1, 2 and 3 add 50, 100, and 150 ac respectively. Shield for archer is useful if you are in a group and going after a boss. I haven't yet needed to do this but if you are the one being attacked equip your shield and let the other 2 hit. I guess...Just my 2 cents.
You can also level up your jaw strength skill so you can hold the strap of the shield in your mouth allowing you to auto-shoot while not being able to see where you are shooting resulting in a 100% miss ratio

Leave it as it is.
Archer + block + kite....um no.
Next people are gonna ask "why can't my archer parry attacks???"

I am an archer/ warlock. I wood think a person cood shoot then pull their arm back and use the shield to block. The penalty makes sense cuz the shield is an awkward item to carry. Yet blocking is possible realistically. I don't assume we shood make changes or not. Just my thoughts on the subject.

So let me get this straight, I can equip me shield and get the AC. Which is great my 78 Shield gives me 522 AC.
But I can't Block, I can't Deflect, I can't Bash. And on top of that I can't parry (not that an Archer could really parry anyway). So my only real defensive skill kite?
Seem like there is a lot of defensive skills for everyone else!

Not everyone else can hit as high as an archer, or can be as versatile.
Really, archer+BM equipment and skills, with a vampire class=enough power. You don't need a shield that adds the blocking effect.

Exactly. 25% lowered attack speed is a fair trade-off for a significantly improved AC. With blocking it'd become way too powerful.

Not all archers are vampires, you can't compare a weapon style to a class and say that it applies to every archer out there. That kind of argument only applies to vampires which doesn't apply to Boondi.
Also, I am sincerely doubting any archer will continue to use beastmastery equipment since the archer's speed with whips has been so drastically reduced that they might as well just remove the ability as an option choice.
This is not me voting for or against archery with a shield but simply that your arguments are not properly thought out.
