This has been suggested quite often as a class specific skill for the tactician. It would suit the class perfectly.

middington, my good man, u told me (perhaps u remember) personally, in IM..."yea i didnt bother to read past the part where she said tact is the weakest class"....yet here u still are...letting ur voice be heard. I'll not "offend" u further, if u just find another thread to fuss at...u have...no pt, except to say...hmmm honestly, u havent said anything. You came in empty, u IMed with me empty, and still..you are empty. And to my discredit, i have no tolerance for ppl who talk for no reason.

Actually I talked to clear up a misconception about the tactician class. That misconception being that they were the weakest, as they are still not the weakest I still have a point, weather or not you choose to acknowledge what I was trying to say, falls on you and you alone, I cant force someone to assume people arent just out to get them. Paranoia is an obstacle that can only be overcome alone.

as for the now 3 times proposed "reflect"; how is this suiting the class perfectly? It does make tact even more dominating against melee classes, but fails totally to grant any usefulness what-so-ever against casters or archers. The last thing tacts need is to have bonuses when they parry...they r alrdy very strong against those they can parry. I think the issue is; they cant parry arrows, or spells (tho, again, i dont think even proper planning allows u to dodge a storm of fire of some such, so parrying splls rlly is not realistic). I do think parrying arrow (perhaps at 50% of narmal parry skill or something similar) is very logical. The pt of this thread was to produce a "new idea", not buff a class, but make new and possibly exciting ways classes could contribute in a group setting...and not 1 person, other than fuzzwort, has even attempted to touch on this aspect.

i would like to quote this, as frankly, it is exactly my thought. There are many "trivial" classes...and -this- exactly, imo, is what is causing nodi to suffer (that and a war system without intrest or benefit worth risking anything for). Personally, i dont care which classes get "buffed"...tho id be lieing if i said somthing that would help me kill things wouldnt be fun...What was suggested here, tho possibly not clearly, was something that would have its only real benefit, in a group or clan war setting...at least i think (having obviously spoken about this idea to the original poster b4), the idea was to create, a benefit which would make tacts desired to go into a group battle with, w/o actually benefiting the solo game at all. The real idea here was to create a class, desired by teamates (like maybe angel was supposed to be...another class which is frankly, just unusable). NERF the CLASS, drop me 20 lvls, nerf my skills more, and ill be below the other 3 ppl who play it atm...and give me some usefulness in group warfare (which is exactly what a tactician should be...Zhuge Liang...wasnt a great warrior, but his presence created victories). Make it harder for a tact to lvl...but make them fascinating to aspects of high lvl nodi game play...cuz -that- is what is missing, intrest...intrigue...uniqueness.

and Jeff, if u actually bother to read all this...damn, you are a devoted creator. And those things i said are lacking, are what is so rich in nodi in the first place. Its the richness, and diversity of the skills, and the means to which we lvl them, that brings ppl like myself here, and keeps us here. However, at teh top end, you are losing ppl (at least ppl who desire somthing more than beating up on weaker ppl). Juran is the only avi I know of, who has near maxed his char, and isnt bored enuff to either quit, or just start beating lower lvl ppl stupid for kicks (and everyone seems to be forced into the "imma have to go PK cuz im bored" idea.)
Its a good idea, if u want to give the bonus to a diff class, ill reroll. Im not asking for a buff...Im asking for u to see what nodi needs, and i think that is strategy and excitement at the highest lvls...u have many ppl now who (till u raise the cap, if u do) only have clan war to think about rlly...and it is devoid atm, of texture. When I found nodi (after playing a dozen MMORPGs way too much) I said "now here is somthing interesting, unique, and i can overthink it till my brain gets tired"...which is awsome...and as far as group/clan battles go...does not appy atm.

I absolutely agree that Tactician needs a buff! However as long as some other classes...
Seriously there are only 3-4 Tacticians in the game and the highest is lvl 44 !
That is extreme exctintion of the class....
There could be an update that affects a pack of classes...
Also a reasonable idea seems to add arrows to be possibly parried. Archers have high dex anyway to prevent others from parring..
Also tactician seems to be one of the main classes to be worked around in melee (defense) .. and it doesnt look like it does now.
Just for the note, I dont have a Tactician... I am a guardian and I very rarely voice my opinion on guardian class.. because oh well..its not the best pvp wise in duels.. maybe only groups and maybe only at lvl 70+ ^^ I am yet to see it all.

I agree Tacticians do need a Buff. I've never met another tactician. My skill is a Parry, but even that Bonus is tiny. If My Defense is weakened by my class skill, then parry isn't the best skill anyway.

For being posted in the Ideas & suggestions section the thread remarkably lacks Ideas & suggestions (except for the counterattack suggestion that basically still makes a tactician an anti-melee specialist). Less "discussion" please. Provide alternatives if you think that tactician shouldn't be what they are.

Jeff, if u actally read all these posts (then ppl, for that alone jeff deserves a big appluase) then plz, just give this idea some serious thought. Ofc, tweek it, as u feel best, but i truly think, this would greatly enrich nodi game play, for group and clan battles...and enrichment of this wonderful lil universe...is all i think -most- ppl who posted here, are seeking. Its depth is what brought most ppl here (it wasnt the 3D graphics im pretty sure) I personally, dont care what u buff or when u do it...i just want a richer, deeper experience. Ty, for anyone who actaully takes the time to read my thoughts, w/o readying a dismissal.

Now THAT is disrespectful. But your a good rhetorician.
I will say this - That tacticians are less than appealing class. Parries only happen so much. and they have to be careful how they build themselves. The more you put into Agi is the more you take away from DUR. And the more you put into Dex, is the more you are compelled to a pierce build. Training a tactician is conflicting as I would imagine. Maybe Jeff can revamp this class. BTW i hear casters are especially strong at high levels. tact=pwnt?

BUMP. As a Preface, It is well known in chat that I am more of a crafter than a fighter. That said, Jeff Please give the tact's a boost.
I'm a lvl 21 Tact and lvl 16 Mobs parry more than I do. Where is that prevention of parry I'm supposed to have? My class Enchanment is @ lvl 20 so I do not get why Mob's are better trained at my skill then I am.
Here are some Idea's i have come up with:
1. Tacticians according to the character script are trained in fenceing, which mean they are trained for dueling. Perhaps one perk to a tactician could be an addition in their Melee damage while dueling/clan battling.
2. Another idea along the line of fencing skills is the ability to strike quickly. A great tactician skill would be a boost to double attacks. A person who fences knows that a good fencer not only knows how to avoid taking a hit, they also know how to capitalize on a chance to hit big or hit than once. Crits would be cool, but a real quick and killer boost would be a gain to double attacks.
3. If idea 2 is too over the top, another plus would be a gain in accuracy, Since when could a fencer NOT hit an opponent? They train and train to not just hit targets but specific targets.
Just some thoughts.

rename it to duelist! that alone will be a major buff.
the riposte idea would be great, and definitely fit in with the style. maybe even give it a major bonus to attacking with a single one-handed weapon and no shield. ok, so i got that idea from d&d. but hey, they know their stuff. also, all of blazin's ideas fit tactician really well. i especially like the #3. just a 10% boost in accuracy could quickly make them one of the best classes.
