runes could also be sacraficed to only specific alters. for example and swiftarrow rune would only be able to be sacraficed to the alter of archery and so on

i like it...
hurts nobody, only adds some interest in runes...
runes have the dismantle option...maybe they could implement this by making them create actual trophies instead of being sacrificed directly? either way would be cool really.
the only reason i can think of that they wouldnt want runes to be sacrificed is: they were intended to be a gold sink for all players. less runes = less gold sink. but it would really just lead to players wanting to kill more for more runes imo, since they would be more scarce.

This would give players tradable, non-decaying xp. The daily decay is what keeps the prices per 1k xp stable.

I'm afraid Nose is right. If this suggestion were added, I could trade some trophies for your runes, drop the runes in storage, and let them sit there until I want to use them. I could let them sit until I hit level 60 (at 24 now, so long way off). Jeff doesn't want us to be able to hoard experience.

runes drop like candy? 0.0 since runes came out I've burned over 15 hours of rrt and have dropped only one rune. I did have someone give me 3 runes that they had no clue what to do with but by that point they were already in the ah in triplicate. lol

This may work, but has the same problems as already stated... could be used for trophy hoarding, as resins can be turned into trophies. Then again, it could be used for crafting. Interesting suggestion.

all resins can be used for as you called it "xp hoarding". but you can buy those from the store. that is like saying you shouldnt be able to dismantle leeggings because some one might saveup the resins and use them later to make trophies.

Yeah, that's the part that makes me twitch a bit. I do think this could be a good way to make runes worth something instead of flooding the AH with 500g rank 3 runes that nobody's buying.

I think runes are still too new to be making alternate uses for them...maybe later on after they have been out for a while. The reason I say that is if you make them valuable on some other plain then they will no longer be used for what they were designed for.
For example if you make it so they can be dismanlted for resins... if the value of the resins is more then the value of the rune in the ah they will get bought up quick and dismanlted. then the # of runes available will drop significantly. Runes that were a dime a dozen are now extremely hard to find. and the trophy crafters will have another way to make profit...trophy's will flood the market daily therefore dropping the prices of them.
Sacraficing them to an altar for EXP is an interesing idea...depending on how much EXP each it may not have as much of a hit to the market as resins would. They would still get bought up quick and cause the prices of runes to go up.
Either way I still think it's too early for a change.
Not sure if it's already been brought up buy how about just making them sellable to the store and for a lot lower price then buy price. that way there is still an opportunity to be picked up in the stores and not lost forever if dismantled or sacraficed.

I agree with richp on this.
Let's give runes awhile and let the smaller clans get a chance to get the runes before we do away with them.
This way, when they get owned, they can't say they weren't given a chance to get runes.

Not really... Trophies stack... runes do not stack therefore it would be very difficult to carry massive ammounts of runes to trade in for experience... unless they made the experience levels WAY too high...

i dont think small clans can keep runes going without selling tc's to deposite gold into rp. then again thats what its all about $$$$
