Casters cannot use ranged why?

Ok after spending allot of time thinking about this I am finally going to ask that Jeff either reconsider this penalization that he has placed on casters or place it on all two handed weapons users.

I have played two caster chars (recently rerolled) and found that this was one of my biggest annoyances. I do not see why somebody using a two handed slasher or dual weild was allowed to use a bow while a caster using a staff was the only type of character not allowed to equip a bow. Personally I wanted to be able to equip a bow to do hunting. I think it is unfair that staves users must choose whether to have complications in being able to hunt while all other two handed weapon users must not.

Glitchless I ask you please either explain your choice or make it fair to staves users and make it such that no two handed weapon may be equipped with a bow and arrow.

I think the penalty should be changed so you just get a great reduction on attack speed when using autoshot like 50-75% this way you cant really benefit all that much from the bow other then for hunting and its more fair then taking away all staff bonuses also will make it a lot easier for casters to hunt since then they wont have to switch equipment sets at loot screen to hunt as the only ones due to that penalty

Feel this would work like the hybrid archers out there that would level up their archery skills to do the first autoshot and then swap over to staff... only problem would be losing that initial free gem that you get with a staff.

The penalty should be 50% being as archers can now equip whips and each whip causes a 25% penalty. (how does that work... If an archer can use two hands to hold his bow and have 2 whips equipped... why cant a spellcaster?)

unless jeff makes it, so that when autoshooting, you dont get ANY of the caster abilities, then i veto this idea.

There is a reason for this, not just because of 2h weapons.

Archer+spellcaster=hell no. That class would be way over powered, even with parameters on attacks/skills. The way it is now is perfect and balances everything.

You do not need to change what little balance we have left in the game. Quit complaining, if you suck, reroll or quit. Casters are good enough imo.

A level 4 archer solo'd spruce woods without epics.

A level 5-6 caster solo'd spruce woods without epics.

As you can see, not enough of a difference to ruin the balance of the game.

If you want to hunt, level backpacking to 25 and equip a level 0 bow in your second slot. When done fighting just switch backpack.

i would love to see my caster with a bow set on his primary equipment set but if all you want to do is hunting then what zenga said. I have a 2nd equipment set and just leave him on that set when I want to do hunting or u can switch at the end of battle and the option to hunt will pop up.

Yes when Bow is equipped then you should not get any of the benefits of wielding the staff... (just as i think archers should not get the bonus of the whips when they are using the bows)

I never thought of that... is there a restriction on how high a creature you can kill with a level 0 bow? or is it any bow will kill any tier animal?

no restrictions sho. a lvl 99 bow will catch the same prey as a lvl 1 bow

Not so..rumour has it that Zenga owns the lvl 99 Bow of Belgian Pwnage..hence his ongoing and more recent success with hunting and pwning pker prey..
