firstly casters cant use magic that can win a fight untill lvl in something secondly beastmasters should just use whips only untill they can get a pet and that goes for most skills they dont help much till they reach lvl 10

well when i didnt use archery i used melee and used slashing weapons but i found tht it was better as an archer and have stuck with tht since i have never used a whip on my bestmaster so no idea how good they are lol. still testing out a few classes before i go on holiday and hope to make it back before release.

I think the caster level in something is 2, that's where my wizard picked up a couple of gems and starting going through 'em like candy to kill things. I've no doubt at all it'll be significantly better later on, when better gems and more skills are available/trained, but as early as level 2 you can start making use of gems to speed the kill rate.

lol...I hope that doesn't remain true for me, I'd hate to have to ditch the whip for a bow. I'll probably make a "beastmaster at mid-teens" thread when I get to that point with the character, as well. I look forward to getting your input at such a time as well, to compare/contrast those two different ways of building the class. I'll have to give it another "this might be broken" though, if the most effective way to build one is to basically make an archer with a pet. I'm sure I'll get people who completely disagree with that one too, but at least the discussion will be out there for review and developer consideration of the class based on player input.

well as for your claims on it being imbalanced why not then make some suggestions for improvements instead

I did. First post in the thread, and the last post of mine before yours (Edit, that wasn't correct, it was the post of mine before that one, it's at the end of page 1, sorry about that). I'll add more after my beastmaster starts seeing play, in regards to pet skills and the like, if I see things that I believe need a boost or a nerf.

To quickly touch on them again though:
-addition of a low level pet, pre-10 (pre 9 really). I initially suggested level 3, but after input from Som I changed my thinking on the matter to level 5-6. I also suggested a whip at about level 5-6 as well, since there is a notable gap in whip availability. Those two issues are the most glaring points that I've encountered thus far out of the 4 classes I'm currently playing (or have parked and passively skilling).
