Default Bow+Staff

How about letting us equip a bow/arrow/quiver and staff at the same time?

All the benefits of a staff plus the DPS of an archer? Might be a reason why there's a penalty for that item combination.

why is there a penalty for that item combination dont you need bow arrow for hunting it isnt unfair to penalize spell casters that equip an archer set just to could hunt

you only get a penalty to ranged haste. so casters won't have a issue there.

You can't have a staff and bow equipped period. The haste penalty is a bow and whip equipped. Casters just dont make good hunters.

so basically a caster should only equip archery set while hunting and then just have it in inventory or storage during lvling to avoid the penalty as much as possible

ok so what about making it so if a caster is autoshooting they lose out on stave bonuses or making a range haste penalty so great i'd be wothless to use it in combat and make it so casters could hunt.(equip bothe archeryset and staff)

lol well i get what you're saying its just you'd want to keep the bow and arrow in your inventory so you could equip it at the end of a fight (in the loot screen) that way you could hunt after the fight. You could keep the bow and arrow in storage if you weren't moving around i guess. then after the hunt switch equipment back.

I guess you could do it that way ^.^

well unless jeff changes it its the best way to avoid penalty to both of them so you can maximize your effectiveness in both things so that even spellcasters can be hunters

Quivers and Bows give bonuses that it seems Casters aren't meant to get.

Live with it.

Staff gives a huge boost in spellcasting efficiency too. Not only you start with a gem at start, as you could - if auto-shooting locked down the bonuses - mid fight, decide to "change from auto-shooting to auto-attacking" and start drawing loads of gems, quickly and swiftly.

I can see an archer with Invigorating (mana -> 2xEnergy), Emotional (energy -> 2xMana) and both green (mana) and white (energy) direct healing gems, filling their health nigh instantly.

Have you noticed caster stats (Cnc and Int) are also archer stats.
It would be the most ridiculous cookie cutter build possible.

Or like Jeff said, Casters just aren't meant to be good Hunters. I would pick a different Resourcefulness skill to use, or have an Alt, or two.

You could, or just have a character that is not a caster to be your hunter.

Who said that it had to be exclusively for this purpose? I myself have 3 premium accounts for faster leveling up, and will also allow for a bunch of diversity in resources/crafting; I have an archer that can do my hunting(well, not really archer class, but adventurer).
