Losing new players because of virtues

Jeff,

It seems to me that lately you have been having about one N a day quit because he cant do anything with the new shiny lv 9 epic he just found. They complain that buying the virtues is just one way for the game to swindle them out of 5 bucks.

Pehaps you could put in something that a player can buy with ingame gold (scaling to their character level, maxxing out at lv 20ish?) to temporarily buy the virtue so that the person can move/sell/wear the item. Then once the epic is moved/equipped/auctioned, the virtue can expire or u can have it expire on the next server reset.

For example, you can have it start at 10k gold + 1k per character level for each virtue.

This should stop you from losing new players and help with retainability.

In theory I agree, it sucks. Not that my opinion matters, I'm just a lowly N myself... Personally though, I'd just drop the item in my storage and forget about it - probably somewhat disgruntled. Really though, why quit over a low level item? Eventually you will upgrade equipment anyway (right?), and probably have enough in-game gold to buy some TC's to upgrade virtues permanently.

I don't agree with needing to buy virtues to use epics... The odds of getting your hands on one (or the price) seems like deterrent enough as is. On the other hand, at least a premium account is not required(?) to use Epics.

That's just 1 N's opinion on the matter... Maybe that will change if/when I find my first epic. :P

A Temporary virtue for gold implemented? Or an "SELL TO SHOP" virtue with gold? Which sounds interesting, however that will allow alts farming for epics a paradise.

Um tc's are in AH. N's can buy tc's from ah but nothing else. Save your gold, buy the tc, use it for the epic.......

I think the current system is fine, it acutally had the opposite effect on me. I felt I couldnt effective play the game without them so I had to purchase the virtues.

If you don't have the virtues you can't even move the epic. You can only destroy it.

Don't forget that unused epics in people's inventory (usually epics without the required virtues) can be looted by PK'rs, which is like one of the only ways to make a profit as a pk'r.

Because I am likely ignorant to some game mechanics, such as, the inability to move the epics to ones storage. However, now that you've educated me, my opinion matters. This really does suck, then. :P

The current system is fine, except it would be nice to be able to at least move the item around in your inventory. I understand not being able to put it in storage, but I'd like to be able to put it in a different spot in my inventory. I walked away from my computer, and the game auto-looted, and now I have a shield right where I put my trophies. I'm OCD, so it annoys me.

Personally I think the system is fine as it is... If you don't want to pay for the epic destroy it and use other armour. Not everyone has a full epic suit and if you don't plan on playing the game actively or trying to get to level 70 then why complain you can't wear the epic, you're not around long anyway...
