I love my fiance, the beach, the colors pink and green, polka dots, monogramming, boutique shopping, painting pottery, girly mags, Duke basketball, girls day out, shopping, reading on the Amazon Kindle, knitting, Halloween, festivals, outdoor markets, Coach bags, Hello Kitty and Mary Engelbreit goodies, Longaberger baskets, Lilly Pultizer, Guitar Hero, the Twilight series, jet skiing in the Atlantic, dancing, grand pianos, visits from family, and time spent with wonderful friends.

I am thankful for best friends – the ones who I have known forever, the ones who made four years of college the best years of my life thus far, and those special new ones who have taught me that there is more to learn in life than I thought I knew, supportive family, sunny days, thunderstorms at night, the first snow of the year, fall, laughter, books you can’t put down, sweethearts, perspective, silence, babies, little old couples holding hands who remind us what is so precious in life, health, happiness, being who you are and loving it! ♥

Okay...need to establish some positivity for myself this morning---so a poem. Another one of my faves.

Lost
Daniel Wagner

Stand Still. The trees ahead and bushes beside you
Are not lost. Wherever you are is called Here,
And you must treat it as a powerful stranger,
Must ask permission to know it and be known.
The forest breathes. Listen. It answers,
I have made this place around you.
If you leave it, you may come back again, saying Here.
No two trees are the same to Raven.
No two branches are the same to Wren.
If what a tree or a bush does is lost on you,
You are surely lost. Stand still. the forest knows
Where you are. You must let it find you.

Here is to hoping the forest has some answers for me today...

What is up with all the nauseating icky sticky mush poetry people supposedly like? /YAK
Even the word itself is reminiscent of regurgitated cottage cheese.
I submit that people claim to like poetry because someone has told them it's refined.

Howsabout some poetry REAL MEN can enjoy like:

I love to see you standing there,
In bra and panties too.
It raises feelings deep within,
I'll tell you I want you.
I'll pull you close and hug you tight,
I'll kiss you deep and long.
I'll cup your butt in my two hands,
And press you to my dong.

Now that's poetry!

The woman of the night waits for my shift to end
I pick her up off the corner and drive round the bend
Loveless sex timed by her Timex watch
And now i have this nagging itch in my crotch...

You know Flip--up until the last line, this was good stuff!
Wish I had you for a student...

And because it is my birthday, here is another fave.
(just for you Raven)

I don't know how or when you climbed into
This tiny golden tabernacle in my heart.
I only know that you are there
Curled up, safe and warm like a memory of christmas

I am the monstrance, held up for benediction
In my nakedness and emptiness
Deep inside,
Inside the shimmering folds of glory,
Inside the glass door and the luna,
Lies your tiny seed
The tiny seed held close
Until I can be again in your presence,
Stop time,
And live.

- Fighting for the ones who can't fight.
- Defending those who can't be defended.
- Standing alone against many.
- Following my bushido.
- Taking it all in and retaliating in infinite measure.
- Knowing the truth and not being swayed by the clamoring of the masses.
- No strings.

Jon--well said, and absolutely you.

Today, I am made happy by the sale of my poem!
*Ferrec finally sells something, and causes shared bliss*

Special thanks to Rogue for being my official poetry appreciator, and who really should post some of his work here. *hint, hint*

And just for you Raven, here is a more Manly Poem (well, as manly as I can muster, at any rate):

It is in the darkness, in the deeps
the musty strains of desire stirring, stiffening
bringing to close
that which has been danced
has been whispered
has been smiled

At last we come to our conclusion
bathed in the glow, the sweat of our brows
the concentration toward
the one thing.
the only thing.
the end in the beginning
the death in life
the pleasure in pain
the scream into silence
you and I.

- writing music.
- helping out those in need.
- good food (steak especailly)
- sweaty sex that lasts all night
- swimming
- fishing in the morning as the sun rises over the crest of a mountain
- the way the forest smells after it rains
- making friends and leaving enemies in my dust
- making amends
- getting wasted and dancing to country karaoke
- the embarassing memories of said dancing relived through a great story
- change
- loyalty in the face of adversity
- house music and rave culture
