Default To lvl up or not

There are pros and cons with getting a higher level:

Good
G1- You get some points to put in stats making you stronger
G2- You can learn skills to a higher level without penalty. The bigger difference between your lvl and the one you learn the bigger the penalty!
G3- You get (mostly) an extra gemslot for more gems

Bad
B1- You get (mostly) an extra gemslot for more gems wich will give you a runaway-gem that will reduce the probability for getting a "better" gem. No big deal for higher levels but for a lvl 6 its drawn 17% of the time and a lvl 10 10%. No problem if you want it. You can also buy a new game next time in town, but first you must secure your levels in the magics or gem handling.
B2- You get reduced xp and loot if anything at all for monsters below your level.

For me the issues are G2 and B2 where i try to find a balance.
I have started carrying an extra gem when i'm on longer trips in the wilderness and close to a new level. But the new level means that i have to spend a lot of skillpoints on magic because of the new slot when i'd rather put it on something like blocking for a better shield.

Also when my quests make me pass through areas with monsters of my current level i dont want to lvl up. For example Moss dungeon where you must go through Spruce forest and Mosslands. A lower level gives you higher xp and loot for those areas so in that view its better to delay the leveling by setting Class Enhancement as Active.

Conclusion
If you level slow you have time to raise more different skills. You also get more xp/loot from easy monsters. But as soon as you want skills above your lvl you start getting penalties that equals out the benefits. Therefore I believe its best to try to keep your level in harmony with your quests.

I am right/wrong/mad/stupid/genious?

Is it so good that one should set stats to passive training?

can't passive stats OBVIOUSLY...

Also despite anything else, the point of the game is to LEVEL UP ,however since there are select areas that give larger amounts of spirit/combat trophies then the next, you might chose to delay your level up in order to improve your skills.

In conclusion: KILL KILL KILL!!!!!

you're prolly going to have at least one stat you don't really need ... for my guardian, it's magic ... so i untrain that when i want to go back and farm an area for trophies ... drop down a few lvls, get a bunch more exp and loot per kill, without weakening my character since i don't need a high lvl magic to use my heal gems ...

or maybe that only suits me ... ? ...

level up every chance you get, level up fast. the only time you should hold off is if you really need trophies or are grinding for that epic in a certain spot.

on passive skills, before lvl 20, passive your weapon/armor, depending on which needs it more. after 20, set it to a crafting, artistry, or resource skill and leave it there. you are going to want those skills for cash or enchant stone crafting at some point, so the earlier the better.

I would never passive a crafting skill, level up something useful like slash spec or combat recovery or anything but crafting artistry and resource CRAP
