Reasons for being squelched needs major, MAJOR changes

One of my good friends got squelched for making a joke about selling her character, and yet I see peeps abusing civil chat with cussing ranting making racial slurs and far far worse topics, and yet there is nothing done about it? has the chat policies changed to only getting banned/squelched from civil chat for joking about selling toons?

Sadly Jaseas, there is a hierarchy of what is bad. The sad part about this is, account selling is at the top and it doesn't happen often. The majority of rules being broken fall under obscenities: sexual innuendos, profanity, racial slurs, filter bypass, spam, etc. I have sent a couple of reports of specific people breaking rules and nothing has been done. But one time sexyy does this and she is banned from civil chat. That is majorly unfair IMHO.

Jeff, I suggest a different punishment system. Such as based on number of times of infractions. I guess like the strikes here on the forums, except in game. For every strike, that person will be squelched for 1 hour and every strike after the first, it is doubled. For example, after 3 strikes a person is squelched for 4 hours, 4 strikes 8 hours. After 10 strikes, that person is banned from civil chat. Each time a strike is given, that person loses 1k, and if they have less than 1k they lose all of it. This should go in effect based on IP, not account only. This is to prevent venting of frustration on an alt. Any other suggestions to this?

Are you talking about civil? cause uncivil there are no rules, when it comes to racial slurs, swearing, etc. as for the account selling thing, that's against GAME rules and as such should be dealt with accordingly

I have to agree with brow. Say what you want in uncivil--but selling accounts is against game rules, and should get you squelched. In many games, it would earn you a permanent ban.

I understand Sexyy was joking, but how is Jeff to know that? And, if joking about selling accounts is deemed okay...then one could carry out the entire transaction, publicly under the cover of a *joke.*

I understand that there are differences in what can be said in civil and uncivil and the game poilicies about discussing selling accounts in chat, but the fact of the matter is players are still discussing things and saying things they shouldn't be in civil. They need to take it to uncivil or turn off chat. I agree with the 3 strikes your out idea for the civil chat, atleast they have a warning before being squelched or banned. After the second offense of abusive language they clearly have no regards for the rules nor other players and should not be able to continue to chat in civil.
