Have you tried running it again and seeing if it was just a glitch?

Bentro all I can think of is make sure the game :

- Runs on Windows Vista.
- See if anyone else is having same problems.

Or :

- Make sure all of your Window's Service Packs and updates are installed.

Looks to be a laptop computer you got there, and it looks like it lowered the CPU frequency to help save battery life. Never had an intel laptop, so I'm not exactly positive where the options to disable this feature are. I could google it for you, but you're probably just as capable at utilizing google. I'm pretty sure that running the laptop on AC power would turn off the feature.

Again, I could search for it, but I'm lazy today.

If it's not that, then something has been incorrectly set in the bios. I doubt it could be that as most mainstream computers don't allow clock frequency tweaking.

try running the Game Advisor and see if it comes up with 1.6ghz or 800 Mhz.

Windows XP Game Advisor

this is not a dual core either right?

Right-on about the laptop part. I know it uses less power on battery power alone compared to AC. But I am plugged in when I get the message.

Doesn't matter, it are your laptop specific settings. Check your energy management in either the bios or your os.

And just FYI, AoE3 runs just fine for me. I'm confused as to why I get the error msg.

Here's the report it gave me- Sample template for the DAL Scanner

Admittedly, this is not a gaming system. (meaning I can't ever play Left 4 Dead ) I can't seem to get the wife to justify having a gaming computer, so I have to deal with what I have.

You know I always cut you deals.

Plus

You ignore me.

I cry myself to sleep at night.

It would probably help if I actually cared enough to login on a regular basis too. Or at least enough to use all the RT I'm wasting.

I found this online...same issue same laptop. kid said it fixed his issue.

It's Speedstep, disabling it in the bios will force it to run at it's lowest setting all the time.

If you want to have the cpu running at full speed all the time download RMClock and in the advanced settings tab disable Enhanced Halt state.
Download. CPU Rightmark

This is the link to the entire thread
My Dell Inspiron 9300 won't work at 1.86 GHz

some additional info on speedstep

another thread on the same issue.
