Trustworthy Traders
I think it would be nice, and I know Whitelite would agree with me on this, if there were some type of ranking system for trades. Something that would tell you the person you are trading with is trustworthy. Getting cheated because you're giving someone the benefit of the doubt is the worst. Even if it was something just on the forums, to save code space in-game, anything would help. Maybe start jotting down the good ones and the bad ones and putting it in a specified thread? Policing sucks, but sometimes it's something that needs to be done.
Please get some thoughts down on the subject. I know I'm not the only one who's been wronged because a little nasty lied about a trade.
If this is already a thread elsewhere, please forgive my ignorance and direct my dumbass there.

If we experience a transaction we believe is shady just post it here and list the person's screenname. We do not need to flame anyone but be more of an informational post or sellers beware type of thing.

FREE market
the game economy is based on the free market system if people want to resell thats their choice you dont have to sell to them at 150k and noone has to buy at 300k as long as there are people out there willing to do both then there is money to be made and somebody is going to take advantage of that fact. its not wrong its Capitalism. ...I know lets make it a socialist system so once you reach the next lvl someone gives you the stuff free and u pass down ur old stuff to some one who has just reached your lvl this way everyone has the same armor/equipment depending on thier lvl and its all fair.
NOT!!! Life isnt fair get over it!

I was thinking more along the lines of "Hey. I'll trade you this for 2 TCs, but I need the TCs first for virts". You trade the TCs ... then receive no item and are now ignored by the player. That's shady and that's happened. Also, the lending of loot or giving TCs in return for gold at a later date, yet getting the same results as above. Those are the types of trades that must be addressed. Though reselling is annoying, I agree with kensisson that you can't stop a free trade market from growing. Just can't complain when it starts to dwindle.

Well, if you consider reselling a scam then if you sell epics to a store and buy them back you are a scammer.I openly admit to be a scammer then. iggy Evilviper, Usaviper, Dodgeviper, and vipervenom for me please so I wount scam you. Thank you. But, if you are talking about the tc thing then that has happened to me, not much you can do. Stupid frees get greedy. Thats why I will no longer buy anybody tc's.

Look, you are (by right) supposed to trade using the AH, which will have to prevent scamming. If you get cheated, start a thread and tell everyone about the player who scammed u. That way no one will do business with him again.
But no sense to incorporate this into the game.

If you get scammed be it irl or in a game you were trying to make a better deal than the usual deal. The only one to blame for isyourself.
Nodiatis has a very effective anti scamming system, use it i would say.

Here's a plan, if you're wary of a trade don't do it. This isn't eBay. :P

I feel like this got turned into more than it was. Just a few (helpful) thoughts on the subject would've been nice. Not all the nonsense.
Apparently, either most haven't been scammed or don't care. I was just thinking it would be helpful if there were a thread or some sort of database where you could follow someone's bad deals to avoid getting caught in a bad trade. That's all. I'm not trying to turn it into eBay, which is why I suggested ealier that this be a thread and not in the game. Read everything before reacting and commenting please. It'll stop you from looking foolish in the end.
If there are anymore HELPFUL tidbits, please post. If you have nothing helpful to add, keep your fingers off the keyboard.

i agree most people should keep their fingers off the keyboard if they do not understand the topic. Just a bunch of angry jerks...lol j/k
The example you gave is a perfect example of a shady trade. Where there has to be some trust involved because the full exchange of items cannot take place in one trade. I have never personally made a trade like that but im sure it's happened. My advice would be to start a thread and post the persons name with an explanation of the situation. People that would do something like that should be banned, it's a form of stealing.
BTW for those that don't understand "Resellers" are not someone that uses an item then resells it to someone else. A reseller is someone that purposely hunts down or initiates a cheap deal either in chat or in the AH with no intention of actually using the item only to resell at a much higher price.
As the supply of items increases the ability for resellers to continue doing that will decrease but for now it's still an annoyance.

Drop it, the thread is not about Capitalism
Read two posts up. I don't care about it being a free market. That I understand fully.
I'm attempting at redirecting attention to the intention of the origianl thread. Why are people responding to responses? Please look at the original content and go from there.
I know this is a Free Market. I don't care. We all know what happens to Free Markets, so I'm ready to laugh at bad investors. What I'm TRYING to get going is conversation about shady punks who "steal", in a sense, from other players. If this hasn't happened to you, move on to another thread please. If you have noteworthy comments to leave, do so. Otherwise, you're filling up a thread with useless information.
I've made deals with players who needed TCs to trade items that I needed. Most have gone without incident. Those are good trades, without question. But there have been other cases where people have robbed other players in these same situations. Also, there are the players like Whitelite who "loan" TC's in exchange for in-game gold at a later date. Those players then give the TC to an alt and they're never heard from again. That's the main subject and it's morally offensive to any decent player.
If you have input on the subject above ^^^, respond. If you have something to say to someone else who's commented on another matter not regarding this, please send THEM and MESSAGE.
To end, always remember the immortal words of "K" : Be Kind, Rewind.

Capitalism my butt .. with all due respect Kensisson. That is not the point he is trying to make here.
I try to help out other players as much as I can, but my good intentions are taken advantage of at times. I have listed items in the auction house *eg. a blood claw* and then received a pm from a player begging me to lower my price because they only had "X" amount of gold and they couldn't afford to pay the extra, so I've lowered my price only to see the same person relist several blood claws 2 days later. So in effect, she A) lied to me and B) took advantage of my efforts to help someone out. Will I do it again? yes.. Will she? of course because she thinks she's smarter than everyone else and prays on peoples compassion.
Do I care? not really.. 10 or 15k isn't going to break me, but damn I hate being lied to !! Skanky people like that should be outted. I frikken hate liars!!
Stealing tc's from ppl who are trusting enough to risk being scammed so someone can have a opportunity to gain an item they may not be able to get via any other method is morally wrong (among other things) and they fit right into the category of lying skanks. Praying on people who are inherently good and trusting is WRONG no matter how you slice it.
Capitalism is fine, but negotiating a lower price using underhanded means... NOT FINE.
I am done now

Maybe because this is a forum, often referred to as *discussion board*. One gives arguments, another one replies. Pretty simple.
Bottom line remains that the game trading system was designed to avoid scamming. If you want to circumvent that system for your own profit, you have to deal with the consequences cq possible risks yourself. Yes for your own profit, because the same armor/weapons/whatever are available on the regular market as well (e.g. a free level 27 player finds an epic 25 breastplate, and he wants to make a deal for 2 TC's, while on the auction house you should pay up to 150-200k for it).
An idea might be a pillory feature in the game. You can put someone on the pillory for a large amount of gold, with a reason and your ingame visible. On the other hand, for double that amount anyone can buy that person off the pillory.
About the resellers: whats wrong with make a penny to enhance your characters?
Anyway, put my name on the list. If I see some item for cheap I'll buy it and will try to make a profit. If that makes me look bad, I don't give a ****.
So here I'll out myself: YES I AM A RESELLER AND I'M PROUD OF IT.
