There are several ways.
1. Get Gem Haste Aura
2. Raise those skills that speed up draws (If you don't know them, go study up. You need to know that stuff.)
3. Use a staff
I'm new and fairly ignorant, so no doubt there are more.

a) Use cantrips.
b) Get to level 20 and get your replay skill up and just use blue gems.
c) Reroll and become a Jeweller.
d) use recastable gems.
e) use auras.

I have the opposite problem, my gem draw is too fast. The reason for this, is my connection. I don't want to take my stats down, but rather I'd love a way to turn off the increase in gem draw because when my connection starts to lag I can put a gem in but I see the next one and then it's gone... for maybe 2-3 gems I cant place in there because they go too fast and connection problems!

best way to have faster gem draw rate
staff
lvl wizardry (get an automatic forty % with a staff equipped)
gem haste aura
cantrips
replay - blue gems
at this point, pretty much the only ways to up it

Actually it's pretty bad at low levels. For instance: assuming all your skills are at character level, when u are level 20, wizardry still does not contribute much to gem haste and u can probably only equip gem haste aura rank 2 at most. Using cantrips and DD/DoT gems will drain your mana/energy, sometimes much faster than you can replenish - if you have bad luck with gem draw.
It's hard to be a low level caster :/
However, please be assured that things get better at level 40 onwards. And combined with gem haste aura, when wizardry hits level 30 , you really can see the difference it makes.

Yeah, I noticed it was hard as a low level, but now I am lvl 24 and my gem draw is quite fast. Every skill I have is at least 30+, with the exclusion of Tradeskills and Learning skills.
So when I have staff equipped my gems draw fairly quick, and often are missed due to poor connection and the increased gem draw.
