You could also have random farming zone spots, where one square has a higher rate of Resource/GR/EXPrush etc but only one person can farm on the square. Once on their square they are able to be forced like in a clan battle.
Gladiator Battle: Every 6-12 hours have a server message go out "gladiators prepare for battle" cue to queue.. say a 20 minute warning to get to town and queue. cut off queueing 5 minutes before the battle actually begins to prevent people from losing rrt due to being pulled in during combat.
Objective: Would be to see which team can score the highest amount of kills(1 point each) during a given time frame, or reach a certain amount of kills to prevent complete blow-outs. I would say 20 minutes or so would be a good time.
Teams: Randomly selected so that no team has an advantage over another. I'm not sure how difficult it would be to scale it by experience or what the best way would be to really do it fairly. Or if you choose to fight in a team you can invite from anyone in the area but you get a penalty if you group up depending on max group level.
Zone: I think it would be best to create a new zone for this type of pvp. If not just randomly select a zone that people are not able to leave from until the given time, or a certain score is reached... once either of those 2 are met then they are transported back to the town they queue'd from.
Grouping: It should be possible to group during the match, groups of 3 being the limit obviously.
Chat: There should be a new chat to be able to speak to your team during the match. Or only able to speak with people in that area.
Battle: You force on another person on your square, or they force you. I do not think it should be possible to run into mobs during this game mode.
Respawning: Should be some sort of time for the respawn to occur, either your team respawns in waves every minute, or each player gets a 1 minute respawn timer upon death.
Bonus from winning... Either some form of points that you can use to accumulate a TC, like 10 points a win, 5 a loss... every 100 points you can redeem a TC... something along those lines. Or a flat gold amount per win/loss. Or maybe even just an increased change for gold rushes/higher tier resources/increase in trophies for an hour after the match.

You could also make it so the 'wanted' player has more benefit to not hide. Give them a bonus to farming that only works while their wanted timer is ticking. That way it is more beneficial to them to stay out and farm rather than hide and keep the bounty or forfeit to their friends. People will go nuts over a bonus to GR's....Won't wanna give that up.

Well there are no incentives for pk's now days, at least not the lower level ones, it's very limited. I think they should add skills that improve play of 'overskilled' players under certain levels or introduce some sort of beneficial skills to make the game a better experience for those who don't want to be at cap. Of course if everything is earned at high levels, it's not going to promote interest in players to go pk because the small players want to cap to get the rewards and the people at the top don't want to go pk because their stuff is too expensive for them to risk losing.It would be nice for the up and coming players to have some sense of risk in the game, I mean clan battle is great and all but it doesn't quite have the intimidating feel of a red flashing level 30 character with overskilled 99 crushers.

To make it non exploitable, or less so, make it so you cannot gain the benefit from killing the same toon for x amount of days ( x being however long is determined to not be exploitable)

So about Hot Zones-
Make it so only a certain number of people can farm there at a time.
If too many people are fighting mobs you can walk through and force on people but not mobs.Like a clan battle, but no timers
You get a bonus of x gold/ x exp what have you depending on how many mobs you've killed in zone. Increase it after every 5/10 or what have you mobs.
If another player kills you they can steal your bonus. Once killed you cannot return to the zone until x amount of time passes.
Make it so you can't force on your own alts, and if you've killed a person so many times you don't get the bonus from them to prevent alt/friend farming.
You have 2 skills you can raise, but can only be leveled IN the hot zone-
One that increases the bonus you get in the zone
One decreases the timer for returning to the zone after death.

1. A tweak to the PVP system is a great addition to the game by far, but what can be done to give the new players a small edge to the game? the newer players are light-years behind a capped toon that has finished a pilgrimage. well aware they could catch up if they bought all upgrades, but many of the new players probably can't afford 250-300$ worth of upgrades in a short time. I'm thinking, aside from the hot zones, or daily quests, or whatever. Maybe an epic beast that is only for people of a certain level, say a really weak beast, for toons level 1-20, but this beast gives double experience for 45 minutes, and a TC if killed. instead of gold bonus. because lets face it, what the hell is a level 20 toon going to do with gold bonus from the beast? or perhaps just change the gold bonus from the beast to experience boost for toons that aren't capped, or give players the option to choose between double experience or gold bonus altogether.
If we can get more new active players into the game, we can resurrect this game and make it even bigger than it was in 2010.
2. Aside from that, instead of a 3v3 or 1v1 arena season. Why not a 2v2 arena, or even tweak the combat system further and add a 4v4?
3. PLEASE, and for the love of the Nodiatis gods, give us a reason to group farm. people do not group farm unless it is with their alts, to PL someone else, or to take out a high level boss. People want to fight together with their friends, why in the hell is group farming so darn inefficient in this game? can understand if exp is nerfed, and gold. but WHY loot? the biggest reason people don't group farm isn't because of the gold, or the exp. but because of the fact that you can get a stack of 20 t30 silks because you're grouped with two other people is just UNFAIR. I could understand if the 60 t30 silks was split among people in your group, where they got 20 and so did you. but you don't. you get penalized because you wanted to together with a comrade. GIVE US A REASON TO GROUP FARM, people enjoy playing a game together, its been this way since the days of the Nintendo Entertainment System and the Atari 2600! why does this game punish for fighting together? there is very few reasons to group up. one is for beasts, another is for high level bosses, another is for powerleveling, and hunting PK's, or farming your alts together, or arena which takes 10-15 minutes to even get into a match. It sucks, this game focuses too much on players being isolated, rather than participating together in anything. that's all for my rant. please give it some thought. ~ Lakki

YES! Definitely need something for the lower new players. Coming in as a new player everything seems DAUNTING and UNREACHABLE.

The problem with this is this gives the people with all their 500 alts even more PvE farming bonus. I can understand why something like this hasn't been implemented, but yes only grouping for solo's is kinda lame.

Regarding the pvp suggestion, no hard feelings Mel, I don't care at all, even CBs for clan terr for monthly rune activation is a bother for me... but I'm a rare pve/crafting breed, many people would like something new in that category.
a beast for low lvls that gives EXP bonus sounds great since full LG alts of annoying caps who would want to exploit got nothing to gain from that. But add the TC there and they would steal it from lower lvls again and make it pointless...
About the game keeping toons in isolation, that is mostly true, but remove penalty and the 100 alts players get yet another boost, and there will be greater imbalance.
Many people are just an exploiting menace to gaming society and sadly there is no efficient cyber or other way to Nerf their faces for it.

First of all, Lakki, light years is a unit of speed now time. >.> *laffs alone...*
Secondly, All points stated above by Mel are 100% accurate, I really miss the 2009-2011 period (friends, really).
Third, To be honest, I really am kind of bored with the same old grinding sessions and I've barely played for quite a few months. I don't really know what'll keep me here, but it's definitely not PvP. Although, I do find the Hot Zones a bit interesting.

A 1 hour tourney system would be fun. 8 or 16 players queue and pay a TC entrance fee. The winner gets 75% of the TCs and the 2nd place person gets the rest, with big bonuses to dominance and territory for every individual win.

on a side note, here is my rant
well aware, it was a metaphor. but light years just sounds so much better than years away, it just does. oh they're years away in terms of catching up, meh more like a decade. light years is just like, they have NO chance of catching up. we are at mars, and they are at earth. they're so damn far away, they can't catch up. but on a serious note
exp boosts for low level players, the RRT added from quests is a big improvement but it appears negligible in terms of getting newer players to actually stay. I started a clan with others to help new players, but a lot of them find the game too grindy and leave. well aware the game needs to make money from upgrades, they may get standard or a virt or two, but they get to level 20, 30, or even 40 and they're just burned out. feeling like they can never catch up with the rest. it's frustrating to help a toon for a month or so, and then they just leave because the games grind is too hardcore.
these have been asked for repeatedly, but daily quests/hot zones, more monthly events ( literally an event of some kind, every month) I remember back in 2010, there was gold rush months, and exp rush months. The past bonus months we had recently, the adventuring, the chance for a double GR, and the foraging ones were amazing. if we could get more consistent events like that, that would definitely help the game in terms of keeping old and players. but aside from the rant, I think the biggest things that WILL help the game are.
1. ( the client) which is working wonders!
2. A mobile app.
3. bonus months, i.e. exp rush, gold rush, resource months, etc.
4. daily quests, hot zones, etc.
5. an actual reason to group farm, a buff, something that players can do together that is fun. not being penalized for farming together. arena queues take long, and there isn't really any reason to group farm.
6. Well aware variety is the spice of life, in terms of PvP this is great. 1v1 arena and 3v3 have been very nice In terms of variety, but why not a 2v2, or a 4v4, or even a cross-server arena like Mel mentioned?
7. re-mentioning, but beasts designed specifically for low to mid leveled players to get additional exp, (caps cannot attack this kind of beast) raist had a point about players with alts stealing the TC's from legit new players. so maybe just a beast that added exp bonus, and when it was killed, it just drops like 300k gold or something. dunno
8. new Mid-level zones, as mentioned in 2016 most wanted as well, the same two mobs over and over gets stale and old.
9. As Mel mentioned, more of Glitchless personal interaction with the players, storytime, more replies to forum posts, etc.
10. Two beasts per day, one for Euro-time players, and another for western players. I don't think an extra beast per day would take anything away from the game, it would make people from both time lines happy, sure it can be argued some people will go attack the euro beast and western beast, but if they want to stay away for a whole 24 hours just to attack two beasts then, smh.
11. in regards to PVP and PVE, melee could use a buff in general, and i'm sure many would argue that quadrakill's proc chance should not be based on health. We are still the weakest in the game, why on earth does quadrakill have to suck too? our kill time PVE is 3x slower than a DD caster, and probably 5-6x slower than a double-cast archer hybrid. we have to be on the brink of death to even do decent damage, which is still only half that of a DD caster. we can AFK farm, but that's the ONLY pro to being a melee. Our uptiers suck, our damage is subpar, our epic skill kind of... sucks O.o I understand Melee's DPS is probably the way it is because we don't need to click, but holy crap.
12. (opinion) Piercing is the worst of the melee, said It in the past many times but you can't beat crushings stuns and high damage, and slashings consistent to massive damage with bleeds. Hemorrhage is too weak, and so is puncture. Well aware hogs just came out, so time for minimum damage armor is needed, but I hope to see that armor essence lot to an even 12, rather than the odd 11 and maybe some tweaks to puncture and hemorrhage skill.
13. make the degen arrows proc from archers apply to the user, like it does with blighted bludgeon or remove the listless aura to the user of the blighted bludgeon. It feels like Melee always gets the short end of the stick :/
New blood, and Old blood being happy in the game is what will keep this game running, I'm confident the client has made many players happy, i'm sure some of these changes also would make a majority of the players happier. Some were opinion based, some were not. I thank those who took the time to read this, as I have no idea what else to say, type or think at the moment. I'm drained.

Working on top of this idea-
Exclude previous winners for a certain amount of time or a certain amount of competitions to prevent the same person winning over and over.
(Not to stop a winner from bragging rights or anything, but some toons just can't catch up, so arena type things are very discouraging. This seems more fair for everyone.)
Have tourney's at different time-zones for the western/EU difference. I know timing of things is a big issues for a lot of people because the server is pretty well split between western/EU.
Have tourneys at a semi frequent rate. Arena times are a BIG complaint. PvP oriented people love the break from farming. A reason to log more frequently for tourneys would be awesome.

The truth is that I am not the most active player lately. BUT I do agree on the subject that PVP MUST be encouraged. The ideas floating in this post are pretty good. As I need some time to make a suggestion I'll simply say that I will make an effort to be more active in forums and chats within the game. Until then I'll fully support Mel and ppl trying to help this community stay alive.

Would be an extremely fun, new pvp option. To keep players from winning it all of the time an option could be that you are able to win once a month. On the last day of the month there is a tourney held where only those that had won in the past month were eligible.
(if its not a daily occurrence it could still work on this system, just need to adjust the times to fit the length and occurrence o the events)
Since many players are on different time zones, could do 2 on the last day of the month to accommodate them, or rotate it back and forth for which time zone the last "championship" tournament is held.
