pk, online/offline status

After starting S2 in the hope of hunting pk's i've realised something it is easy for pk's to identify possible threath and to use the /b "playername" function...

Since i've been identified as a "threath" in s2, pk's are waiting in town for me to log out to start farming. They also wait for me to log out to renew pk status...

I believe pk's should not be able to know if someone is online or not, it might seem obvious for s2 because we are very few pk hunters but it is the same for s1 since pk's are mostly out of range of capped toons reducing the numbers of possible threads

my suggestion is:
- players should be able to hide their online/offline status to other toons

welcome to my world, been this way forevers, still get by, tho i wouldnt mind it in the least. although it is only right that this would go both ways, which i would mind. so meh

also to add, if pks are that damn scared to cut into their own game play from a single or even 2 toons that they obviously out number and out power, hell, job done, sit back and laff

OK, so in this case PK's should be able to hide their online/offline status as well? and remain visible to others only the 30 minutes of flashy? I'm all for that lol

Yes felix, players hiding/showing online/offline status possibility should be offered to any player pk or not pk
this would:
- prevent lvl1 alt abuse
- prevent arena avoid (will be even more useful next season with 1 vs 1)
- make the hunt more fun

ofc players would still be able to see if someone is online when he speaks in /c/u/g/1/2 or when they are encountered in arena

we could also think of a counter part of this status hiding feature like "not able to use runes when hiding status" or " unable to sell things in ah when hiding status" or "getting double GR when showing status" or ... something else... to prevent everyone from hiding his on/offline status because there would not be any more benefit from showing "i'm online"

Ok, what you say makes life wonderful for everyone, but i see a couple of counters to you. Mind you i do not disagree with yoour suggestion, i actually am supporting it.
- How would it prevent level 1 alt abuse when it is possible to make an arena team of the said level 1 alts and q it just to see who's online and who's not?
- Same as before, can easily avoid queue when the low level alts are in q and fight your (or anyone else's) team (or as 1v1 will happen, yourself or someone else)
- the hunt would be more fun but so would the farming xD since a PK wouldnt know when the pkk-er is online the same goes around.

For the counter part: not being able to use runes is not a major deterrent as anyways there arent many or decent runes on S2. Selling items on AH when hiding online status can be avoided by selling them off an alt that isnt hiding status.

Also if someone is hiding their online status would they show on the map as you're passing them? Cause for example if i am in afk mode and close browser i still show in town or where ever i am if someone passes by. However of i log off then i completely disappear from the game. How would this work if hiding status?
