Default Quest-Locking and Rant about new players.

"Quest-Locking" I call it that because it stinks just as bad as stun-locking. I've seen this happen with TONS of new players, and it just happened to another new player i was trying to help today. This game does not warn new players about NOT doing their quests strongly enough I don't think. For example, A new player beats the fisherman, and the ogre outcast. does the fiddler crab quests, but neglects the rat quest and the runt fox/ sand snake quests and heads for ashen trail. A few peeps from civil help the toon with low level gear, advice, a small amount of gold, and sometimes rides to the next town. This low level toon has neglected their quests, they walked to T2 or T3, they decide to ask the seer for a quest, and are told to go back to castille and do fiddler crab quests. well about 95% of these new toons don't wanna walk back so they just quit. they could ask the seer to kill them, but i think these new toons are already half-way paying attention as it is, and they are trying to figure out how the game works, so they don't read the "ask about returning to castille" tab from the seer, so they are like, wellp. "I'm out of rested time, that walk took 2 HOURS. i'm not doing this again to go back and kill crabs. I'm done" then they quit. doing those quests at teal/green mobs is just.... awful. i remember skipping quests. had no accel in the snake river years back. taking like 16 kills to get just 1 piece for the collection quests. skipping quests may be punished a bit too harshly. It should never take 4 hours to do one quest lol.

Another thing, I also think some new players consider buying face, but i think a lot of them do not realize that they do not have to spend 20$ for standard, or 50$ for premium. This confuses new players, a lot of them probably don't click more options and think "well this game is expensive..." and leave as well. most players in this game buy time cards, that option should be on the first page. not the standard and premium option lol. it's just a lot better on the eyes seeing a 5$ option versus a 20$ and 50$ option on the first page. just my opinion though, what do you guys think about this? I know we've been talking about low levels for years, but the key is to not give up

I would certainly agree with you regarding the $5 option being more prominent.
I've directed plenty of people through the 'more options', after they've been under the impression that they've got to shell out $20 minimum, and balked at it.

When they find that they can do it for $5, they nearly always seem to buy.

Good idea moving TCs to the first page.

As for quests, I'd lower the requirements to finish the first few quests- 20 kills per zone is a long time at low levels.

For slow effects, use the slow % but as a negative.

Just repeat for multiple effects.

DO NOT multiply by 1+slow% to get your new delay. 1*1.4 is not the same as 1/0.6 and your answer will be wrong.

yep. It just happened again with another new player, thinking they had to spend 20$ for standard. which is true, but the 5$ option is 10x better, should be the first page at default. I think this often scares off new players, i have no clue why the standard and prem are at the FIRST page. thank goodness me, nibbles, and a few others redirected the new player to the 5$ option or we may have lost another new player :/ I BUMP THIS THREAD. this should be changed!

Definite support for making the $5 tcs on the first page for a lot of prospective tc buyers their first purchase they want to check the game out and $5 is a lot better look than $20.

You brought me back my memories, when I started playing Nod. I was so excited about skills and build variety game offers, that after finding its 20$ to play with face I was still around for around 3 days more. By that time I met Kingzs (yes, I do remember this Kinky) who told me about 1TC option and even gave me one. This triggered me to start calculations and find, that it is possible to maintain standard account by selling resources on AH (by that time TC was 200-300k). That kept me here till today. This thing is not really working on s2, its more like no-pay-no-game, but 5$ is not that much and I totally agree with idea of pushing it to the firstmost page.

One more trick they do in other games is offering a short-term "premium" account for begginers. In our case, if sb is logging in for 3rd day he should receive a 2-3day bonus standard/premium, to feel the hunger after its gone and to fix ommited quests that time.

Quests at least till 10th lvl zone should be cosidered done after 5trophies/5fights.

It should be possible to skip quests as far as to hit 3rd zone. For now you can skip 2 quests and catch 2nd zone quest at most. I also would gladly see a dialog window to just choose a quest from list of possible ones. Most people wont even try to hit "take quest" more than once.

Lvl 20 offers dual wielding and a variety of other extremely useful skills, so afterwards it is considerable to leave quests limist as their are.

Perhaps we should make mob encounters on paths even less frequent and require that players finish their Castille quests before venturing west.

We will do the TC page thing as well.

hawt..but prefer if the forcing to do Castille quests has a toggle that is on by default and can be turned off if a player wants like auto stat cycling. intro quest is bad enough let alone forcing me to do those extra quests every time i make an alt D:

it can give players a nudge in the direction of doing quests but won't force them

I would at least lower mob encounters along T. Way but I wouldn't force players to do quests.
