Overskilling buff/change

As most of you are aware, you must be above a certain level to access certain skills.
These levels are 20, 40, 60, and 80 respectively.

I want to propose an alternative means to unlocking these skills.

If every skill in one category, e.g Weaponry is above a certain level (20, 40, 60 or 80) you will unlock access to that respective tiers skill in the category you have the skills in.

As an example, imagine you have level 60 in every Protection skill available to you and you're level 40; you'd unlock Battle Mending despite being level 40. However, you cannot unlock skills in other categories from this- you must treat each skill category individually.

This system would only apply only to the following skill categories, other categories would use the legacy system and remain unchanged:

• Weaponry
• Archery
• Protection
• Life Magic
• Death Magic
• Psych Magic
• Beast Mastery

The reason for this limitation is hopefully apparent to everyone.
No one could have level 80 in Melee, Magic, Defence and Recovery, no use in training secondary specialisation when you don't even have a secondary class, no training learning skills that would be otherwise locked for you, and the same for adventuring.

While I'm aware that 99.9% of you won't care for this in the slightest, I'd still like to see your thoughts or have your much appreciated support in this small change.

This game became for caps, low levels can't do much and that is probably bad. We need all levels and I think this might be the thing that can draw peoples attention to maybe remain lower levels, this can be fun new addition, I support. Low levels with being able to buy Legendary gear can already be fairly OP, but this can make them even more fun PvP-wise and more effective PvE-wise, overall seems like nice idea that wouldn't impact most people but could help people who want to remain lower level

i dont support, as i find the skills accessable would be and are strong in the hands of low lvl toons, if you want to be strong pvp then lvl up, only an idiot would expect to be able to compete against higher lvl toons and be even.

as for pve i think that by implementing this would lead to easier fast insta kills which i dont support. some high end skills are pretty damn strong, and tbh i dont see why people dont just lvl up for them

First of all, I'd like to thank you for your feedback.

Secondly, no one is disputing the fact that caps are superior in every way, and no low level in their right mind expects to be able to beat one; I was simply suggesting an incentive to remain a lower level in spite of the fact the land of caps is full of milk and honey. As for your concern about one hit farming, I can assure you that it would make a marginal difference to those who can already farm that quickly or make use of the skills that would enable it.
Furthermore, without BGT and Max Coinage the income and reward for doing so is ganked in such a way that it cannot match, let alone challenge capped farmers.

Not everyone enjoys playing on cap Chloe and it always feels nice when you have all sort of levels around the map not 2 towns and zones full and rest of Nod empty

i too would like to see more lvls around, and towns a bit less vacent, but i believe the better way to fix that would be to get more players in, either through better recruitment, or someway to get them. im not trying to disaggree for the point of it, just saying my view of it

Purpose of RPG (other than the story aspects, of which there are none to speak of) kill things for exp to become more powerful to kill harder things to get more exp to become more powerful still to kill harder things still, all in the pursuit of treasure (gold, armor, weapons) to assist in the previous.

Sure, there is the social aspect, but you can stay a level 5 and do that. (Gets you past the noob filter)

The other MAJOR downside, and most likely reason I can see that Glitch wouldn't even entertain this idea is a simple one: I can super OP my alt by feeding him trophs from my army of capped toons. You think a level 30 is a tough fight with LG's on, how about a level 30 with LG's and maxed skills? (Except for stats skills. No easy way to get around that with your idea) Don't think it will happen? Two sentences: Level 30's with LG weapons and armor. We have those already.

Sorry, zero support for this.


BTW, and no offense meant with this, but if you're a level 40 and have Level 60 in every Protection skill, you sir are a moron and really need to get out more. It's takes a LOT of work to overskill Protection that high and only be a level 40 with a playable toon. (Or an army of alts feeding that toon, but then see my main point.)

You raise excellent points, Six; also ones that I have no reasonable response to.
There is absolutely nothing to dissuade your apparent fears, since they are (as you said) already a reality.
This proposal would simply be another dismaying layer.

And I agree, there's no benefit in farming at low levels. I would like to think this would improve PvP at lower levels, or at least make it more prevalent.

If someone is willing to actually put time and effort in to overskill all their skills why shouldn't they be able to reap the rewards of extra skills. Overskilling every skill to 60 at 40 for example is quite a few trophies. Even with an army of caps this is still hundreds of thousands -millions of gold in trophies. That huge investment should have some payoff
