Shorter arena seasons

If glitch doesn't shorten the arena seasons starting next season I will wait till last month at most to make a team and annoyingly take what others have worked for months away from them. I see no reason to put my self threw months and months of grinding when i can obtain the same outcome in less than 3 weeks by waiting till others gain lots of rating that i can steal.


So with that said. If glitch doesn't shorten arena have fun fighting all but 1 colored team and 20 grey teams that are only token farming anyway. Its painful, trust me.

Agreed. There are a ton of high ranked teams that are there not because they are the best, but because they had the time to play all season. Arena should be about the best teams winning.

before rush week i had 497 rating. i did 3 days during rush and i am at 1030 now.
Have around 150 fights. So it can be done easily top 50. im around 100 points away from that. Its's not my goal, i only need some rating for better tempers but if i will make it then it shows something is broken.
Doesn't matter if i have a better team than those in front of me.
And imagine 3 toons way better than mine, and around 10-12 hrs of fights during rush.... top 20 for sure.

We've done arena quite a bit lately. There are 8-9 teams better than us. By that I mean 8-9 teams that beat us. There are stronger people who lose to us (yay strategy). We are ranked 27th currently. We've faced almost every team above us and as I've said, 8-9 of those teams beat us.

We had a late start with one of our teammates disappearing a week before rush so we replaced him after rush started (450 rating after new teammate due to decay from old teammate not logging).

But we are a top 10 team. It is unlikely that we will get a top 10 ranking. Is that fair?

Something you said makes no sense Nibbles. You said how you agree with Thorin, and then said how best team should win. If best team starts week before end and is able to win and beat teams that grinded rating 1 by 1 for months then something is broken. Doing arena all season is simply not worth it. Personally, I don't care too much, but just saying.

As it is the only way you can do well in arena is to happen to have loads of free time in the last 2 weeks. Not only is there much more rating to be had at this point by other teams having enough rating that when you beat them you get a large amount of points but then this is also increased by 50%. Teams like mine that play throughout the season and then come rush week don't have the time to play arena for 8-12 hours a day have no chance vs weaker teams that can play more. I get that effort should be rewarded, but there 5 teams that consistently beat us and 2 that can go either way and yet we struggle to even stay in top 20. I also know that our team would get a higher rating doing 300 fights in last 2 weeks than doing 900 over the whole season. Arena rush may go some way to stop team dodging (though we all know that it still goes on) but it also greatly reduce participation during the main part of the season. This means rating is going up les and less during the main part of the season making the bias even more swung to the importance of the last 2 weeks and also reducing the chance that anyone other than the very top teams able to play regularly have a chance to attain top tempers. Having said all this, I can't really think of a better way to do things.

Make it one month long, and maybe have a maximum amount of fights per day that can give you rating. after that point you will only receive tolkens for a win/loss..

Or just make rush week give you no extra ratings gain. That way you couldn't just arena for a week and be in top 10. Also glitch doesn't force you to compete in arena for the whole season. You have the choice of when you want to join, so don't complain about other people doing something you have every right and option to do yourselves. If you have a reason to arena all season and you do, and someone else doesn't want to join until the end that is their right. Just my thoughts, but what do I know I don't arena

I agree with Tharkas, everyone can start whenever they want. But I understand other party too, the ones that aren't pleased with it. Unless something gets changed, I'll just do Rush Week, it's not worth the time or anything to do whole season... And I'm fine with it, since arena is fun for 2 weeks, any longer it gets draining and annoying

i agree that something like that should be put in place, in arena the stronger teams should win ... not only the ones able to queue 24/7

maybe make it that you take the place of the team you beat, or something similar ... or make it like a real tournament, the winning team goes to the semi-final, final and then is champion ...

I disagree with pretty much everything here except shorter seasons. Being a strong team should have no bearing on anything except your ability to win fights. Teams who work hard all season deserve their spots and their rewards.

It's already easy enough for a strong team to form for the last couple of weeks and blast into contention. I 100% oppose making it easier.

I have no objection to a knock-out style tournament. Great idea, I'm game, go for it. Dunno if it'd ever work due to timezones though.

TL;DR Version - People who fought all season deserve to have their hard work rewarded.

if its shorter the rating scale will have to be greatly increased to pay for tempers for everyone

Well I've been in the same team all season and played hundreds of matches, I also have a team stronger than a few that will finish in front of me. The fact that teams can form for the last couple of weeks and can achieve top ranking places is irritating and I wasn't suggesting for a moment that this should be made easier. Also effort should be rewarded but I think the bias is way too much on effort over strength at the moment and also the timing tht the effort can be put in. I like the idea of only a certain number of matches giving full rating though. Maybe after a certain number per day you get diminishing returns on rating gain/loss so there is still some reward for playing lots but less and less as after a certain amount have been won. Or it could be based on rating rather than matches ie after you have gained a certain % of your starting rating you start with the diminishing returns so a team that faces 10 greys in a row has the same opportunity as someone facing 10 teams that give good rating.

I think knockouts would be very fun but hard to achieve. Top 8 teams at some point get in in knockouts like quartefinals or something and play 3 matches. Team that wins 2 goes into semis and such. That'd be fun but due to play time hardly doable...
