usually when i get a rune as a drop i dont think much of it and just toss it unless its something a bit rare. rather than trashing these unwanted (usually low ranked) runes, why not enable a 2nd function to them?
I was thinking that making runes consumable during combat, limit 1 per fight, and strictly through the duration of the fight may be a good addition for the game. if they were used in that manner, it may be a good idea to have there effect watered down to avoid too much of a buff on the user.
from a role-players perspective; it would be like breaking the rune and crumbling its dust over yourself rather than having it fused to your gear. it is on you, not as concentrated, and eventually the elements will blow it off of you.
this will greatly improve the marketing of runes in the game along with their usefulness no matter what rank. it will also add a new twist to combat, even if the effects are a fraction of its normal effect. not to mention the pve applications that it could have when it comes to high end bosses and soloing.
