With Stalking at 100 there is supposed to be no addition to pet dps from non whip users?

They hit twice as slow but twice as big?

If i hit 1000 damage once in 8 seconds or 500 for two times in 8 seconds is not the same ?
In this case what is the purpose of this skill ?
Only to eat trophies ?

When using whips, it gives you a benefit. When not using whips, it does not.

Slower attacks mean less damage from thorns and reflection, and fewer chances for your opponent's procs which trigger when hit to trigger.
