I've had one drop at 50 spider trapping, it was 96 t29 silks, earned me about 1 mil gold. They may be few and far between but they're worth the wait.

Mine is 80 and I got 102 t28s in gs. I have been pling alts though and usually get my stack in tm, lol.

I have messed around with this skill many times trying to find a good level (silks t25-t30) with little luck. In the end, I just leveled it to 100 (again) and figured it would work itself out over time.

Using just normal RRT I farmed in Fungi last month and got 2 silk drops only. T14 and t16 I think they were. This month I have been resourcing in Heroic Goblin Swamp, got only one drop (t15s). I find it incredibly frustrating, since I actually want rare silks to use with my rare plants to make rare cloth. Frankly I'm using most of my gold I make from farming to buy the silks.
Anyways, I'm not looking to gripe (I have griped enough about this skill), I have accepted that this is an 'anti-skill' and should not be maxed. What I would really like to know, is what level would be the best level so I can find rare silks. Ive heard some figures thrown around, like 30 or 50, but Id like some input from people who farm Gob Swamp. Its been a while, but I think the max tier in GS was 26 or 27 with ST@0. Considering I'm looking primarily for 25-30s, should I level this to 30 (since that adds +3 tier min in a zone where max is t27), or mathematically should I just delevel it back to 0 and have more chances at higher tier?

Input would be greatly appreciated.

I have been doing 53 and it is very good for redwood. IMO the higher the mob the lower your skill should be and vice versa

6hrs RRT in Heroic Goblin Swamp: t8,t11,t11,t14,t23,t25 silk drops

For me (someone looking for rare silks in GS) having it at 0 has already given me more silks (that I need) than the last 2 months. Im not here to whine, different people want and get different things. I guess it took me a while to really understand it better. Since GS already can give me t1-t27 (some have suggested t28) I think I am better off rolling the dice so to speak.

If I understand it right (lol prob not), if your chance to get a rare silk is 1 in 20 drops, then at lvl 0 ST (based off 100 drops) would give you 5 rare drops. If your ST is 100 (1/100th drop rate but with a 1:10 chance of finding a rare, due to +10 min tiers), based on those figures doesn't that mean you would get 10 rare drops in the same amount of drops?

If I have that right, having it at 100 doubles your chance of a rare?

That may be the case, unfortunately to really test it you would need to look at 50 months (2 drops a month was what I seemed to be getting with it@100) and then see. Maybe I was due for a rare next month, or next year, but I kinda need the silks now. So I'm not criticizing the skill, it is just a skill that I had assumed would work for me. I don't think it does, and frankly I'm thrilled with t23s and t25, I will happily be turning them into thread, and then cloth later tonight.

I don't know if my figures are correct, all I know is that I'm happy to not be spending heaps of gold buying the silks I need to make the cloth anymore.

I agree that there is something definitely odd about this skill but the only way I can seem to rationalise this is as follows:
With spider trapping 0 you get 100 rolls of the dice for getting (in gob swamp) t1 to t26 whereas at spider trapping 100 you get 1 roll of the dice at getting t10 to t30. This is further complicated by the fact that rares have a bias against them so they are less likely to drop, at a guess maybe 20 times less likely. So really at spider trapping 0 you get 5 rares between 21 and 26 for every 100 whereas at 100 you have 1 chance at what is most likely gonna be a t10-20 silk. Either way, like you I get far more high quality silks with it at 0 than even at 30-50, let alone 100. I think this skill is more to stop you getting a lot of annoying little drops you can't do anything with than actually helping you get high tiers, and if that's the purpose it works very well.

First of all base drop chance for silks and potions need to be buffed.

At ST of 22 I had only 1 drop over 20+ h rrt.

Only thing that can explain it it was slower kills (red wood) compared to N lake or GS but still...
