Default civilized and uncivilized channel

The system is flawed. The way I see it, the uncivilized channel is the channel for grown ups who don't want to be censored and can handle that others aren't censored as well. But once you switch there you can't hear anymore what's going on on the other channel, which means you miss opportunities to group up, trade, help newbies or participate in any other way. In short, you are secluded. You entered the leper camp.
Now the reason the whole thing was introduced was to protect people, especially children, from being insulted. They would still be protected if they couldn't hear what's going on the uncivilized channel. I don't see why this has to be mutual. If it wasn't, you could respond to anyone who's using the civilized channel by sending a pm. In fact, you can already do that by now, you just don't *see* what they say in the first place.
If you argue that pms could be used to insult the civilized - Who would do that? You don't flame somebody in private, because the reason you do it at all is to get some attention or laughs. And even if somebody would, there's still the ignore button, right?
However, to make this work a kind of visual distinction between civiled and uncivilized shouts is necessary, since otherwise you don't know when you have to pm somebody in order to be heard. A different colour underlying uncivilized texts would do just fine or maybe a red frame that highlights portraits.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the chat mule suggestion, I hadn't thought of that, but it seems now the matter is settled anyway. That sure was a quick response and it's even better than I wished for. Great job.
