That could work as a teleport to anywhere on the map if another player is there, which jeff already stated he didn't want, so that each town has its own economy etc.

In EQ there used to be a spell that would teleport all party members to the entry point of the zone the party was in. Maybe something like that could be set up.

That's a really stupid argument on your part. I agree with each town has it's own economy which is why he can set the price of the potions high. Would you spend 1500 gold to get to a town to make 300 gold? No. Would you spend 1500 gold to travel to your buddies in another zone? Probably.
It would not be WORTH it to use one for buying and selling goods.

First of all like I stated it's jeff's argument, one I've seen on the boards.
Secondly, this would allow players to bypass bosses and zones they can't complete yet, as well as not having to spend time getting to another place, e.g. from t6 to t1.
Thirdly, it could be simply used to purchase adventuring exp, and since you're suggesting a set price for the potions higher-level players would be spending peanuts to get massive amounts of exp, or whatever else they may want at any location without spending a bit of rt/time.

here is an idea the gate potion has 2 uses the first use to send you to town then the second use to send you back to where you first used the gate potion. which would then get rid of anyone being able to skip parts of the game.

I love that idea
Although perhaps a different potion should be used that sends you to the last non-town square you gated from, so that there is no confusion?

Agreed, having sth like a teleport would be great. Used once to get you to the last visited town, and another time to get you back to the spot you used it at. I'd love to have it implemented.

Could still be exploited, say you move one square out of town, say T1, gate back in, so that it sets your gate location outside T1, you then walk to T2, get the adventuring XP, teleport back to your gate location, step into T1. Bam! 2X the XP in same amount of time.
Maybe if you move out of town after gating, you would lose the ability to teleport back to your gate location.

He could also make it to where once you've used one of those potions, you can't gain any adventuring exp or be able to trade/auction until reset.
Boom no exploits

The trade/auction could be a little harsh, instead like adamska said you can't gate back if you leave town, or a timer that means you have x minutes to gate back to your location, during which time you can't earn adventuring exp.

but the thing is adamska the gate potion only gates you back to the town you last entered so this wouldnt be able to be exploited

Lets say you have 3 applets running with 3 characters
You place all 3 characters at 3 diffrent town
You join group for 2nd character and tele to him, bam Adv EXP
Leave group join 3rd character group tele to him, bam Adv EXP
Within 1 day you could have skill 60+ in a certain adventure skill....
Bad idea.. if you ask me

it could be made so that there is no group teleport or that you dont get adventure xp for group teleport. and we are only talking about the gate potions which if done the way i said will not be able to be exploited because it will be between a point on the map and the last town you visited. and you dont get adventuring xp for visiting a town unless there is a different town in between the visits

Yes, that's what we're talking about. It seems it still could be exploited. But if it was done the way Adamska's suggested, we could avoid exploits, or at least I hope so.

Well, that's not exactly the kind of potion we're talking about. The one you're commenting on just couldn't be accepted (due to exploits such as the ones you presented, and some other people before you.)

how bout if you teleport to a new city through a gate potion or whatever you dont get the adventure xp and the town you are teleported to is now counted as the last town you visited
