nope. name change, unless in extreme circumstances, should not be allowed.

As long as:
- it is expensive enough;
- given a long enough cooldown (like 1 month minimum);
- and follows the same rules as when you are creating a character
then I don't see a problem with it.

Or maybe it's you who is so bent on flaming the idea that you don't even bother thinking possible sollutions to the Cons.

A name change is a vanity thing.
So I'll just give you a few hints on what can be done to prevent scammers from abusing it for other reasons:
- Able to see someone's previous name
- Able to access someone's name change historic
- Announcement when someone changes name: X changed name to Y that is sent to everyone as a message they will get even if they're offline (they see it when they log back on)

There are loads of sollutions to the problem you present.
But instead you choose to insult the one who is presenting the ideas to the forum with the interest of improving the game.

You are the one who didn't give the idea any thought.

Here's something for you to think on then, genius.

When you come up with these ideas, why don't you take a few seconds to think through the pitfalls, and then post the solutions to them. Then, I won't need to bother posting the damn obvious problems which you would have thought of if you'd given it a few seconds worth of thought.

I'm not 'bent on flaming the idea'. The basic idea (just allow name change), is crap. It's open to abuse, and undoubtedly would be abused (think Squeezer, Driive, all those scumbags).

With a load of safeguards it has possibilities. But it's your idea, not mine, YOU think of the problems, and how to circumvent them. Not my job to do that, and I'll give it the same thought that you have.

Ofcourse, that's what the forums are for.
These aren't requests, but suggestions.

You could say "Would be nice but unless something is done to prevent abuse like scammers changing name, it won't work."

And then you could say: "atm I can't think of one." or "here's a few tips on how to adress that".

Instead you bothered posting solely to say "won't work because it can be abused. Obviously you didn't think things through."

That's what you wasted everyone's time with.

Sorry if I am being a bit rash but the forums really are filled with posts that serve absolutely no purpose other than besmirching the ones who suggest things.
