Eligible for double drops/not eligible for double drops

I've noticed that whilst I'm queued for the arena the status for being eligible for double drops constantly changes.

A fight ends, I enter the queue and, naturally, it says I am eligible for double drops. Inexplicably, a minute later, it changes and says I am not currently eligible for double drops.

Anyone else have this trouble or know what is happening?

No. The team is complete and in the queue. The team is made up of two of my characters and another person's. So, there are only actually two people in the team, but he also says that the elgibility is changing for him.

I noticed it happening a week or two ago and thought it was a one-off, but it is still happening.

I only take part in the arena for the double drops. If that isn't happening all the time that it should, there is next to no reason to play the arena.

This is the way it works:

You will get the double drop bonus if you have been in the queue for longer than 5 minutes.

You will also get the double drop bonus for 5 minutes after the end of an arena fight regardless of whether you are in the queue or not.

The only thing that I can think of in your case is this:

Arena fight ends at 00:00.

You queue 3 mins after the arena fight ends: 00:03.

At 00:05, the double drop bonus ends.

5 mins have gone by since the last arena fight and you have only been in the queue for 2 mins. Hence you will not have any bonus from 00:05 to 00:08.


This is how I think it works. I have not checked it thoroughly so I could be wrong.

Thanks for that. That would explain it. But, I believe it shouldn't be like that. If you are constantly in the queue/arena, you should constantly be eligible for double drops.

After all, you can do no more than enter the queue immediately after an arena fight. Having to be queued for 5mins regardless is a bit harsh.

Not only that, but I have never noticed the eligibility status changing before and I have played the arena in both seasons. Maybe it has been happening and I haven't noticed it, but it is strange that I have only noticed it now.

Maybe think of it this way.
Two separate bonuses.
One bonus, the one for five min. after an arena match, is to say "thank you for participating in the arena matches".
The second bonus, the one for being in queue for more than five min. is to say "sorry about the long wait".
If you are queuing directly after each match then the bonuses are almost one constant bonus, but may have a few seconds between.
If you forget to queue up or quit doing arena for a length of time for whatever reason, you still get your 5 min. of bonus time to work with after your last match.

I think it is a fair system, though I hate all the high lvl teams that have no rating because they are not really there to participate in arena but just to get said bonuses, and so are always changing up teams to group with whoever is on.

I think one long bonus would be fairer. If you are eligible and in the queue, then you should remain eligible until you leave the queue or you do not enter the queue within 5mins of the arena fight ending.

It looks like a recent change because the eligibility thing is something I used to check all the time. It is only now I am noticing it changing all the time. I used to wait a couple of minutes after a fight before joining the queue again because I only wanted the bonus, not fights. That's why I always checked the eligibility and why I now see it changing so much. Now I enter the queue straight away, but it's still a problem.

Many times I lose the eligibility just as I am about to kill a mob. So, despite playing the arena I am often losing out on a bonus.

Then My suggestion is to quit doing arena since you are not really wanting to play arena anyway.
