Damage Buffing Limit

Auras and effects that increase the damage of an attack or direct damage by a flat amount (ie not a %) will not be able to increase it beyond double damage.

This is to prevent abuse (but not eliminate) the strategy at higher levels of using a powerful flare up aura (ie adds 100 max damage to direct damage spells) and spamming level 0 recastable direct damage gems.
