Not a bad idea. Though, as far as the plot goes,

What if the gods abandoned our world because they had found another world in which the natives had grown so powerful and advanced that they had begun to challenge the authority of the gods, wishing to become the new gods themselves, and all of them had to go there and thus ignore all the other worlds in order to fight off the rebellion. The portal could be a creation of the rebels through which the scorned and vengeful heroes of our world pass through in order to finally strike it even with the gods who had simply abandoned their once loyal children to rot in a world of plagues and wars devoid of any inkling of serenity. Because now, mankind will no longer allow itself to be ignored. Perhaps it was time for new gods to rise after all.

I can practically see a trailer running through my head already. ^^

Great time for reincarnation to come about.

Land in the new world at level 1, with all skills and stats skills kept, and you must level up as before, but with a whole new set of skills, as flippy said.

Tougher mobs, tougher bosses, and an end-game boss that deals with a parody of Hades or something like that.

After that, part III allows us to scale a mountain with a name that parodies Mt. Olympus, and we then slay Jeff and win teh internetz.

After that, the screen goes black and asks if you want to start over.

If you click no, you start over.

If you click yes, you start over and a paragraph floats up the screen, like Star Wars, and it says something like "ahahaha you wasted hundreds of dollars and many months of your life on the god forsaken game, have fun dumping your virginity in here too as I butt**** you so you can chat with the other losers in this black hole of time."
