Perhaps the cake is something we truly should discuss. One point of discussion could be the metaphysical meaning of this so called 'cake' and it's importance and role in modern society, and why people feel comfort and safety in the cakes general message and meaning.

That's easy.
The cake represents the whole shebang, meaning society and the lies we create in order to convince ourselves that we are civilized when in fact civilization is nothing more than a sweet, jolly veil that we wrap around our eyes. We choose to blind ourselves to reality because of the comfort most of us find within its decoration and candles and frosting that try to make a day when you should be recognizing the fact that you're one year closer to death into some sort of sick celebration.
And when such people come to terms with the harsh truth that the cake is a lie, and that reality exists only in the savage, primal nature of the devil within the innermost catacombs of the human psyche, they are often driven mad because they are suddenly naked in a harsh, cold, deadly world.
The only solace, of course, is to accept this reality and to embrace it. To recognize the undeniable; that man is in no way superior or different from beast or machine. That in this merciless world power can only be achieved through raw, primal truth rather than a beautiful albeit thin and easily shattered lie, for it is only within truth that we can finally attain salvation, serenity, and an enlightened power to change the world. Ignoring the problem does not solve it. Only through action can we hope to accomplish anything.
And now I'm all riled up for a necropost with nothing to reply to.
